Very special GT3, I hope you get to enjoy it on the track.
I was a PCA driving instructor for a few years here on the east coast. The reviews on your car are amazing. Good luck with it. |

I've tracked my Cayman S and 997.2 GT3 significantly over the last 5 years. Great cars. After 70 miles today the car is very special-just in a different way than the old car. It is extremely quick. The gearbox is really really great. Time will tell if it is that "special'.

E-diff is also quite trick. Car does rotate really well initially but can still be made to push the front end a bit. No way is car making 475hp. AP was right when he said reality is at least 500....but they had to leave room for the RS.

Hey what track is that? Moroso? I did a track day once at Jennings in like 2002 when I was moto racing in the DFW area. Met a guy out there for a track day and sold one of my bikes. Sweet and flat track.

I have a 991, and track about 40 days of the year, I have driven the gt3 991 many times, I find it really needs to be driven at extreme speeds to get fun, a little too gtr for my taste if you get my drift. Shame because it is so beautiful, my 991 lease is up in sept. Thinking of maybe a gts. Can't wrap my head around PDK, still available in a manual. |

In the gt3 991 I was three seconds off of the motor trend laps at RRR on my fith lap. Not that I am that good of a driver, the car is just that good, ptv, pdcc, 4 wheel steering. I was surprised I could way over cook a entry by 10 mph and the car would make all the corrections for me. Car was fun, but I like to know I'm doing the driving, or at least some of it, Lap times don't bother me, no one is giving me an award for two seconds slower at a track day. Did you to carbon brakes or steel, I am interested if you end up getting rear pad melt from the ptv. Pretty common on the 991 with ptv and stock pads, ebc and pagid make a rear that seems to reduce the issue. Last edited by Pparana; 12-22-2014 at 09:27 PM.. |

Got steels for track. I only have about 40 min on track so far. No one on rennlist has had problems that I am aware of cooking rear pads. Nor have I seen a MPSC2 delaminate like that. At PBIR we weren't that far off Cup cars. In fact I think the car is quicker than all 996 cups and even some 997 cups.

I would imagine the car is faster than all 996 cups and (depending on setup and of course driver) some 997 cups. Keep in mind in most racing series traction control, electronic roll bars, torque vectoring are all outlawed. Rule of thumb is if it makes the car faster without skill from the driver it is usually banned. ABS was even banned for a while. Theoretically if you gave your gt3 a diet, about 600lbs, put some slicks and a few other mods it would be faster than a 991 cup car. I am not sure if the rear brakes are the same as an S, or if the PTV programming is the same. May not be an issue on the GT3, the problem unfortunately is usually not noticed until after the rotor is ruined, but steels are not that pricey. You can usually tell if you look at the inboard rear pads if they are wearing very fast from the PTV than you will probably develop the issue once you start running longer sessions. I have seen it on every 991 with PTV used at the track, one guy even cooked a carbon rotor, that was not cheap! |
