i've decided to name my car the defiant. i didn't want to manufacture a name. when i picked up the car and saw her for the first time, the letters on the plate brought the word 'defiant' to mind. so there it is.

It's actually about dogs. Dog names.
I once named a Dog "Stay." Then I'd say, "Come here, Stay." Drove him crazy.

Kind of a long story. I think the M235i is the closest spiritual successor to the 2002tii that they have ever built. In honor of my own 1973 2002tii I am calling my new ride NEUE-02. And I will get license plates to match. ("Neue" means new in German, btw.) My M235i is Melbourne Red so I will have twins, born 42 years apart.
Here is my "Old 02".

My recently departed 2006 X5 4.8is was Heidi. Soon to be M235i will be Sabine, after the lady that was kind enough to give my wife and I a ride one day.

Red - "Jenny" 06 325i - Arctic Metallic - "Stella" (used..total electrical failure after 40 miles) 06 325i - Black - "Emma" 14 228i - Midnight Blue - "Elsa" (new, drivetrain malfunction at 90 miles) 14 228i - Deep Sea Blue - "Abby" |

The Blue Car for the DSB 228 and The White Car for the AW 428. This gender stuff really bugs me, especially, "She". Guys, they are just man made machines and will be out of the cool zone before you know it.

Gisele.
Lost my virginity to a German woman. Her name was Heidi. Gisele was the gal in town who I really wanted. So there's that.

Touché! In part, goes back to boat naming which goes back thousands of years ago and was originally based on fear and superstition. Ancient sea going civilizations practiced the tradition as a safeguard from peril. Most boats were named to honor a god see as able to provide protection. Two prominent theories about the more recent tradition of giving boats feminine names. One came from the morphing of goddesses names to everyday female names instead. While the second ideas asserts the custom as from the way some languages incorporate grammatical gender identifiers for objects. Referring to boats and ships as "she" likely also comes from this foundation.

"Little Monster". Inspired by my daughter's nickname for her obnoxious cat she isn't supposed to have in her apartment. Also a song by Royal Blood I like a lot.

I've got a Siena Braun 74 tii named Pretty Penny -- I rebuilt her from the ground up, which is pretty much how she got her name. That, and she's copper colored. Like Neue02, I really liked both the return to a small, light driver's car with a killer motor, and I like the idea of a matched set. Since a 2 series in 2014 is a few more coins than in 74 and the new car is mineral grey, the name had to be Nikole.
