Wondering what kind of MPG you guys are getting out of the 6 speed. More interested in the 228i but also curious how it fairs compared to the 235i. If you can post % of city and highway and/or other comments thatd be even more helpful!

I'm sure there will be people who can answer your question about the 228i but I'm driving a loaner 328i while I'm waiting for my 228 to arrive. I'm getting a little over 27mpg in mixed driving, much of it in sport mode and that's in a heavier car with the same engine, and I believe, the same transmission (auto).

On a highway road trip I get about 32 mpg. My average for commuting back and fourth to work is 27.
My commute is nearly 100% highway. Zero traffic in the am and 15% stuck in traffic on the way home. |

I am now at 23.4 after 3100 miles. But my numbers are screwed because I tracked the car as soon as I got it and was getting like 4 mpg flying around the track! Since then though if I baby it I can easily get over 30 on the highway and 26 around town. It's been hilarious watching it creep up over time, then I can destroy it with one "spirited" afternoon. MPG is more about how you drive than the capability of the engine.

I average 20-21mpg but I have been messing around to much, on the highway I'm getting 30ish at 80mph , much better mpg at lower set cruise control speeds. Both 228 and 235 get good gas millage for the kind of cars they are! For me probably 40% highway 60%everything else

Have 228i auto...getting 25 mpg in city and 34-35 Highway. I only use ethanol free gas and I run in Comfort mode most the time...too much traffic around where I live to have fun! I use cruise control on the highway and go usually 8 mph over speed limit so 73-78 mph.

Wow. Some of you guys don't know how to read instructions. For my 228 with a Mt (since that's what the OP was asking about specifically) 24 worst case in town to 28 best case in town. 32-33 highway trips cruising at 80. 35 is achievable at 65. I have BMS stage 1.
