Just occurred to me, are you including incentives in your % off? In general you don't count those when recounting how much you negotiated off MSRP, since incentives change monthly and vary individually and are 'paid' for by BMW and not the dealer, whereas negotiated price has the same factors at play more universally, and the $ off very much cuts into dealer profit.

For instance I said my price was $500 over invoice but that doesn't factor in incentives, which figure to be at least $500. That might explain why everyone here is like "10%!?!?", ha.

There was one 235 test car in Finland, the importers car, and they normally give it only for media purposes. I was lucky to get a test with it, after I made order, normal buyer don't know there is one. And what it funniest, 235 Xdrive star price is 70.000€ here..

Yes, I had $2500 in rebates! But on the agreement it said $44,650?

Edit: LOL, I have a 2012 GLI too!

That's awesome. The GLI was the car that gave me a taste of fun, spirited driving (prior I was more into the tech of cars than the driving experience), and quickly got me looking at something RWD with more power, hence the m235i on order. But it's a great car, especially with a manual, very fun.

and yes! the rebates totally explain everything! you got a great deal, but your discount was much more inline with what others are reporting, so now those folks can breathe a sigh of relief that they weren't getting taken for a ride. sounds like you got a 5% discount off MSRP before incentives, which is great and about the max people can be expecting on this car right now.

Gotcha. Well, either way, the rebates make a huge difference!

If you like the GLI, you will LOVE LOVE LOVE the M235i. I personally was extremely disappointed in the GLI. Mine is also a 6 speed. Coming from BMWs, I was expecting the car to be fun to drive, but the soft engine mounts, numb clutch, extremely intrusive rev-hang, and soft throttle response really killed it for me as a "fun" car. I regretted leasing the 6mt over the DSG soon after I got used to the car. It's a good daily driver, but the DSG suits the car much better. Obviously though, the M235i is in a completely different universe. I don't even know how anyone would even compare a Golf R to a M235i..... one is a souped up economy car, the other is a shortened 3 series...so you made the right switch

I think there is something to be said for the 2 not being a high volume seller or speciality auto. I'm in Southern California and shopping for a 228i the last 4 weeks. The dealers in the area have had the same cars on the lot most of this time. A dealer I tried to make a deal with on Thanksgiving weekend stills has the one 228i in inventory I tried to deal on. For every one 2 series the dealers have, they have 30 3 series.

With that I decided to do a ED order for a 228i and take our vacation in Germany.

This car is certainly a specialty car in the sense that you either come in looking for that specific car or you don't. This is not the kind of car that you end up getting talked into by a salesman. This would be my explanation for the lack of inventory, most of us that want the car bad enough will special order it, and those of us that are really lucky can find a nice one on a lot somewhere. Because most would want to custom order such a car and will not mind waiting for it, there is no reason for them to stock them. That being said you can get a good deal if you work for it as said above. 10% is definitely a stretch, I have a life long friend at corporate and I feel like I stole my car when I got it 500 below invoice back in May. Anyone who buys the "only selling at MSRP" statement is naive to the car selling business.

I've had mine since March, and am in Rye.

I know 2 guys who work at Pace BMW in Mamaroneck have M235i's. One is MG on Coral and another is EB.

Wow nice! I was always in Rye at my ex girlfriends house with my fully modified e92 335 until I totaled it on 95 on Memorial Day coming home from her house Good to know some other 2ers exist around here, not sure if you are into meets or not but we should get a photoshoot going in the spring/summer.. I live in San Antonio and I'm a proud owner of an EB 228i. I've only seen one other 2er other than mine and it was an M235i. The 2er is such a fun car to drive.

Just for fun, I looked up some numbers from BMWNA, and I thought the results were pretty interesting. Through November, BMWNA has sold on average almost exactly 600 2 series per month in the US, through a total of 339 US dealers. Assuming they are all m235i, that's still less than 2 per month per dealer. If the 228/235 split is more like 1:1 (and that's just a guess, I don't think any numbers have been released) then that's slightly less than one m235i per dealer per month. So, yeah, pretty rare and def not too easy to come by.
