Yep. This is my first post, to say my M240i was ordered 9/9, got the VIN late last week, and the estimated date of completion is 10/12. The wife's lease is up on October 27, so I'm afraid one of us (namely, I) will be taking Uber to work for a couple of weeks while we wait for it to get here through Baltimore.

Disappointing, since the early side of that 6-8 week estimate meant it could have gotten here right as her lease is ending. That said, the $1000 September option allowance made it worth waiting as opposed to ordering at the end of August. My sales guy was right to tell me to wait beyond Labor Day Weekend.

My 240 has been sitting at the port awaiting shipment for just about a week now. I wonder if it's related to the other delays. Anyone else waiting for transport?

From what I understand, BMW uses mostly Wallenius Wilhelmsen. On their website, you can look for ships leaving Bremerhaven heading for your port of entry. I hope you have better luck than I do. I had to wait a full 7 days at the port.

My car is currently on the Toronto. To add to my drama (see above in this thread), it is arriving as I type this 40 hours late to Halifax; it will be two days late to New York (my cars port of entry). With the way things have been going, I should have seen this coming. At this rate, I'm hoping to have my car before the 2018 models are released...

I ordered on 9/5 and it will be at my dealer on 10/19. Waiting on a VW buyback so it may be at the dealership for a few weeks until that gets straightened out.

I'd almost rather it be sitting in Germany than a few exits away!

Wow, what a difference four days in ordering time made! I'm hoping mycar gets finished this week so it has a chance of making it in time, but from lurking the forum it seems that waiting to catch the boat is the most uncertain stage of the entire process from a timing perspective. I pray it's 3-5 days before catching the steamer, and not a week or more.

Hope your VW situation gets sorted out so you can get your hands on the new car! Too bad all that went down with VW - I really looked at those TDIs once upon a time before settling into a gas-powered A4 Avant. Great performance and mileage on those diesels, but now I guess we know how they managed it!

The 2015's with the new engine dont really need any significant mods other than software

They're great cars

And most people are making money on the buyback......so much so that its foolish not to turn it in.

If the 328d wagon was offered in a standard I would buy it in a heartbeat

Yea, the 2015 A3 TDI has been a great car overall, aside from the seats. But, I'm certainly happy to take the lessee compensation and move back to a BMW!!! I'd love a euro spec 225d coupe.

Yeah, I love a good hot hatch. I'd have been all over a three-door M140i or maybe stretched for an RS3 Sportback. But the way it is, we're taking on the M240i for my DD and weekend cruising and keeping the A4 Avant as her DD and our more practical vehicle. I'd say it still all worked out.

Absolutely - I'm underwater by several thousand on my '14 Passat and it has over 40k miles, and I'm still coming out with enough cash for my drive off fees including maxed MSDs.

It's hard to justify the fix unless you're really in love with the car, and I've never met anybody in love with a Passat

Thumbs up Went into production early!

I don't think there is any delay at the factory, if there ever was.

I ordered my M240i on September 19th. I was told it would go into production in week 42, October 16-22.

I got notice that it went into production yesterday, two weeks early!

I anyone is not getting a production # right when they order it I think that means your dealer does not have an allocation. They should be upfront about that with you when you order it.

Agreed. Knock on wood, mine will be here within or just on the far side of the 6-8 week window.

I understand the skepticism, but in my case at least, the delay is supposed to be due to a parts shortage specific to the manual transmission. Who knows if it's true, but it could be.

I just looked at your earlier posts. If you never got a production # I think that means that it has not actually been put in for an order yet. I got my production # the day I ordered mine.

Possible. But production numbers aren't as routinely disclosed in Canada since there's not much we can do with them (no online checking). I do have mine now, though.

I ordered mine a week ago and got a production # immediately. No production date yet, though. Hopefully there's no production delay due to MT, as I'm rowing my own with this one - first car I've ever ordered, first one with a manual trans after 7 years of auto's/dct's.

After a 4 month and 1 day wait, I finally got my car two days ago. It's a blast. (I'd like to say it was worth the wait, but the delays were brutal... Still don't want to be driving anything else though.)

Good luck with the rest of your journey!
