Oh - forgot to mention a $1,000 "rebate", so I guess 4.46% savings.
I think it depends on your area. Where I live, most of the BMW dealerships were unwilling to negotiate. It's hampered by the fact that most of them have an allocation of only 2-3 M240s per month -- it's not like the dozens of 3 series they have sitting on the lot. I had three local dealers tell me they would not dip below MSRP, even when I told them I would walk away unless they were willing to come down. Ultimately, I did walk away and found a fourth local dealer willing to do 4.5% under MSRP. In my area, that seems to be a good deal.

Then go further outside your area

I bought a truck a couple years ago that way

I paid almost 20% less than I would have from any dealer in 150 miles and they were happy to have my business......delivered it on a flatbed to me for a couple hundred bucks

I go into my local dealer for service the first time and they ask me why I didnt give them a chance to buy there and I refresh their memory that I did....more than once and tell them what I paid for the vehicle and they shut up fast

If you're not willing to walk away from an offer or dealership then dont expect a good deal....they will eat you alive

How did you get 10% on a '17, did they have it on the lot?

No, sir, had to order it as they don't stock manuals on the lot. Got 10% courtesy of the military discount, although I'm not in the military, but I do support them here overseas. Top that off with no sales tax and I'm a very happy camper!

Is 6% off MSRP still a good deal for a '17 M240i? I am hoping there will be some December incentives to add to that.

I negotiated about 6.5% off my order, and I had to walk out of two dealers to get even that much.

There were more incentives on in-stock 235's, but the first two dealers didn't want to negotiate on an order for a 240.

I got about 9% off MSRP. It's definitely doable to get 10% in my books.

Well, looks like I'll have to ask for a bit more. At least 6% is not unreasonable based on the replies.

I'm about to PCS to Italy. I plan on using the military buying service to either buy a new M240 or M2. I'm still torn, but I just built a 340i, M240i and an M2 on the builder and all ended up around $54,000. I just don't see why I'd get a 340i or M240i when I can get an M2 for the same price? Is it still considered European delivery when using the BMW military car buying program? Since I can pick it up in Munich?

9% is impressive. I guess the amount of discount depends on how much loaded your car is.
I think for a stripped car, I found hard to get a lot more than 5%.
For a loaded car, I saw dealers offering upfront pricing of 7+ %
They make a ton of money in options, so that makes sense.

My dealer was pretty cool. I initially had it around 8% discount but then when I got the car about 3 months later from the factory, they had this additional $1000 incentive which brought it down to 9% off MSRP. I paid the destination fee of $9xx separately though from the car cost instead of rolling it into payments. Better deal that way for me.

I got 8% on a pretty stripped custom build (premium sound and backup camera only), and then am expecting another 1500 fleet on top of that (unfortunately my company is taking it's sweet time in setting up a corporate account - the dealership said they would give me whatever the max incentive alternative to this if I miss the boat on fleet)
