Is this for the extended instrument cluster/tech package only, or does it work for smaller instrument instrument cluster/non-tech package too?

Thanks for the tip! I just tried it, works perfect, takes about 15 seconds to get it unlocked. Ideal for people who want to monitor the coolant and oil temp at the track. All the menus are in English on my car which is nice. Looks like you can change some other stuff like conversion factors, no sure how to adjust or why though. The info stays up while driving, even when changing driving modes.

Thanks for the tip, works fine Only degrees are fahrenheit, does somebody know how to change it to celcius? It was 28, witch is -2,2 celcius. Funny because it's +2 now outside, and it has not been colder in the night.. But now it's good to check how my auxiliary heater is working |

Thank you for posting this. I just hope there aren't lots of 9s in my VIN.
Shame on BMW for making it this hard to get temp data on the car. That's really pathetic. I'm going to be forking out for a gauge setup to fix that "oversight".

It's fantastic that this information is available. Many thanks to the OP for posting it. However, because it's so tedious to get to I see this as useful mainly at the track or on long drives. I don't see myself pressing that button 25 times every morning for my commute to work, but still very nice to have on the drive from LA to Vegas through Death Valley when it's 115 degrees. I don't see why BMW wouldn't figure out an option to leave that info up in one chooses to.
