More Love For The M240i - I Think I'm Blushing

Okay, so there can never be too much love for the 2 Series, especially the M240i. Read this http://autoweek.com/article/car-revi...n=awdailydrive and you'll be blushing too. Damn, all of us with the M240i (M235i) are so far ahead of the curve, we look like freaking "savants". Seriously, it's a great car and I am so glad I am able to enjoy it on a daily basis. For all the sh*t I've done wrong in my life, at least I picked a universally accepted great car to drive.

I don't think I've gone more than a couple of days without telling someone I really enjoy this car. It's hard to put in words, but it does just feel great.

I cannot wait to take delivery of mine!!! Although, I'm afraid I'll be staring at it in my garage through most of the winter since it's not going to be my daily commuter. Went with MR/black dakota leather/black dash trim, 6-speed/RWD, moonroof delete, no other options besides black kidneys (still wondering if I should have left them chrome lined) and LSD. Did I mention I cannot wait???!

I hope they sell every one they make, and keep these kinds of cars coming. But at the same time I don't mind at all that I have the only 2 series in the parking garage, while there are multiples of most e/t else I cross shopped it against (CLA and E series, Lexus, and of course Audi's out the wazoo). And with the pricing for 3's about the same, it is no wonder that they are slow to bring out the 4-door 2 series (but that price is for the most anemic of the 4 cylinder 3's, so not a true comparo).

I'm not in the 6 cylinder club but I love this car. I would still take this car over the e90 335i I previously owned.

It is nice when we make a good vehicle purchase, and it’s reputation only grows. No buyers remorse around these parts!

5 months ownership of this car and I am still amazed at how good of a purchase I made. You get so much 'car' for the price with a decent amount of trim/options to choose from and make it your own from the factory (if you can handle the wait). It performs, handles, and sounds great. All of this on top of looking real sharp and you got yourself a good buy.

Just from your avatar I recognised you from the 6 things I hate about my M240i YouTube video, I had to double check
How are you getting on writing the number 2 on the touch pad

I remember that too.

I watched every video on Youtube related to 2 series while I was waiting my car. (longest 2 month ever)

I liked the Dinan mid pipe installation video.

I also watched every video (in various languages) related to this car during the wait. Made it just that much easier - I waited 4+ months! But at the time there really were very few videos on a more personal level that weren't reviews or exhaust clips.

LOL that freaking Z

We ran into that exact situation when we picked up our M240i and wanted to set up the home location. Our address starts with a 2, but the handwriting recognition kept converting it to a letter.

We finally figured out why. The field wanted a street, not a number, so anything you wrote, numerically, wouldn't have worked. So we wrote in our street name. Then, it asked for the number after entering the street. Using a finger for 2 worked just fine. I'm guessing that there are no streets in our area that start with a 2, since I would think 2nd Ave. or something like that would be a valid street name. We did have to go backwards, selecting our town first, then street, then number.

So what I'm thinking is that you ran into a context-sensitive screen where the on-board computer was expecting a letter and a number wouldn't have made sense to it. For humans, it makes sense to type in our numerical address first, but the computer wanted something else.

Nice job on your videos! I saw them when researching the 2-series before purchasing.

I love the car, I just wish the interior wasn't so noisy. It feels like I can't drive with some spirit without something flexing or creaking every few seconds. I wish I could just ignore it lol.

Have had mine for a year. 5000 miles later i still get a poop eatin grin every time i open it up and manual shift the auto. The problem with this car is its ability to double and triple the speed limit just in a short burst, one must be very careful to safely exercise the horses! So far i've managed to avoid the PoPo.
The car has had zero problems. Amazing that i have not seen another 240 in the NE Atlanta area.

Yes, the car is brilliant as stock. Add a tune and you will likely be looking at the M2 in your rear view (at least in a straight-line).

Have considered a Dinan, etc but it's rare to be able to use the power it has now. Talked to a guy with a 240 while in South Florida a few months ago. He had the Dinan tune. He added slicks and ran 11.70 in a 1/4 mile..... with the A/C on ha! I saw his time slips for the day. Didn't use launch either. I come from the muscle car era, none of those 396, 427, hemis, etc. could run 11.70's with a mild tune and slicks.

I'm so happy to read the many comments like yours. I have big hopes for this car, and the volumes of near-universal praise make me think that I've chosen wisely. My past cars have each been near misses in terms of well-rounded long-term satisfaction.

But... the M240i has ALL the right signs of being "the one"!
