I highly doubt it is the downpipe. I had mine on for 20,000+ miles (hard miles too) and never had an issue. A lot of the time the reason for CELs on these downpipes are due to 1 of 2 things. Either the factory gasket at the top of the downpipe connecting to the turbo has deteriorated - you can get a new one for cheap at any BMW service center. Or, the clamp at the top connecting the downpipe to the turbo has come loose. I've seen MANY instances where that clamp comes loose, people would hit me up saying the downpipe throws a CEL, I tell them to check the fittings on everything especially that top clamp and then I never hear from them again cause it got fixed haha! after alot of mmming and arghing, I decided to get myself the fabspeed sports cat for my m235i.

this will be put with super sprint front and mid pipes and a M2 muffler.

I think this will be sounding pretty damn good.

HJS raised prices on their cats starting 2018, price on the Fabspeed downpipe is changing as well to $1395.

Hmmmm....there are many threads on this forum, the F3X, and M2 forums that disagree with those statements. Even Fabspeed has said that the HJS Euro 6 300 cell downpipe has 90% of the flow of their 200 cell HJS DP and only makes fractionally less power. Additionally, those that installed the HJS Euro 6 300 cell DP most definitely noticed an increase in exhaust noise. The primary reason (beyond them wanting you to buy their part) Fabspeed did not recommend the HJS Euro 6 300 DP was because of it's cost. Now they're within $100. The HJS Euro 6 300 cell downpipe is the same one Akrapovic sells (with their badging). HJS Euro 6 300 cell downpipe is a MUCH higher quality, OEM looking part. That's a huge draw for some of us.

I have seen a lot of claims as well but no dyno to prove these claims.
Also i know of testing done by one reputable company showed no gains on 300 CEL and thats why they went with 200 CEL themselves

The Fabspeed catted DP has a 200 count cell. The HJS Euro has a 300 count cell. I don't buy the notion that the HJS doesn't add any power or noise. There are plenty of owner reviews out there indicating both increases in sound and power. The OEM downpipe has two cats mounted in-line, reportedly either being 200 cell or 300 cell each. The HJS unit uses a single 300 cell so of course it will improve flow, thus power. HJS and other makes that market the same DP, just rebadged, state that it makes around 90% of the power of the Fabspeed DP. It's not surprising that vendors push the Fabspeed unit because it's slightly cheaper, makes more power, is more readily available, and likely there's more profit in pushing the Fabspeed unit.

Okay, for some reason I read what Mike said and assumed that the 200 would be phased out of the FabSpeed line up. I plan on buying one as a gift to myself when my bonus comes in.
