I haven't experienced any issues yet, but then I rarely go to dodgy carparks

In response to the door dingers..

Any good parent has the child locks on. Also if the kid is old enough to exit the car on their own in a parking lot, 10y and older, then it's the parent's fault for parking to close and not teaching their kids to be aware of other's property.

All of these dings are done purposely, one way or another. Whether it's by adults intentionally not instilling care and respect for other's and their property in their children or by a jealous, careless or vengeful adult. These dings are always the cause of ones lack of respect and care for other's and their belongings.

The day my little guy exits the car on his own he will be well aware of his safety and his responsibility for respecting other's property. Until then, the child locks are on until he understands. If I cant trust him to think while opening a door how can I expect him to stay in a safe location in a dangerous parking lot?

I've had to many experiences with this situation... no excuse for this carelessness.

100% right....... it is always an intentional fault as you said whether jealousy or complete disregard and disrespect for other peoples property. There is no such thing as an accidental door ding... if its windy have the awareness and respect to hold the door ect ect.

People have no regard for other's property. Walled corners or spaces surrounded by columns have my name written all over. If parking is a problem I'll go elsewhere. Never take two spaces or park at a disabled spot.

My usual spot at work. Relatively empty floor and corner space:

Honestly getting a dash cam for this reason alone. Gonna be starting a new job soon and the associated parking ramp is terrible. First thing on my list is alarm retrofit w/a shock sensor. Most importantly though I want wide-angle cams to record throughout the work day... ideally 2-3. Currently acquiring parts to create a more discrete system inspired by what Pawlin is working on (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1082116)

I avoid parking lots that have super tiny spaces, I'll drive around til I find a spot that ensures nobody will be in close contact. I've been to a garage before like that, I barely had room to open my door so I went to an empty part of the garage instead.

I am going to sound a little crazy but when I don't find a convenient parking spot to my liking I usually turn around and go home lol

I've had my current car for the best part of 7 years and through parking out the way of old people, cars with child seats, shit boxes etc. I've got away with only 1 dink in the rear quarter and 2 hardly noticeable 'unless in the right light at a certain time of day when pluto aligns with uranus and a particular angle' drinks where wankers have rested their doors against mine. The car is weight though, will be even more cautious with an orange 1er.

I was in an underground car park in Rome earlier this year. The attendants in there drove the cars around like they were playing GTA it was appalling. I was down there maybe 15 minutes and they crashed an Audi into two other parked cars. Out came the cable ties and polish. When the owner came back minute later they ushered them into the car and let them drive off not saying a word. Bunch of cunts.

It's intentional unless they are careful not to hit your car. That is part of their upbringing that the parents are not giving them. My parents taught me to be careful of others things and even as a little kid, I did not smash doors into their cars. Parents don't care, then the kids don't care.

U can try your best to avoid dings/dents but when u live in a crowded city it's hard to avoid. I'll try to park as far as possible from other cars, but don't want to park to far cause that's a good way to get the criminals drooling over your stupidity. the one thing I hate to see is those bumper guards people forget to put back in the trunk and ride around like it's part of the bumper.

If I'm in a parking garage or a densely populated parking lot I do, and I always make sure that I am only occupying one space and not intruding on any space that might be next to me.

Otherwise, I park out in the boonies, on an end spot.

I always park far away or in end spaces, never do 2 spots though bc one I can't stand when people do this and two draws to much attention to the car when you do. I live in a really small town so its pretty easy to park safely which is nice for my "issues"
