False m fever strikes again...

Why oh why... I don't understand why some owners can't just enjoy their car for what they are without pretending...

Just needed to share today's find

I don't get why are you so bothered. This 228i has the M Sport Package, so it is technically an M228i, if we use the logic BMW did when they badged the 235i M235i.

Not sure what is more embarrassing. The ///M badge or the dealership sticker. At least get the M badge in the correct size.

The M235i gets it for the tuned N55 engine. The M badge is for their higher performance cars. Not a $2,500 aesthetic + suspension option.

It is fugly because the polices of M and 228i dont't match but it is not a catastrof. This car has probably a lot of Ms on it... Brakes, front fenders, rims, ... One more or one less doesn't do much.

It's a bit sad. It's a pity the license plate reads LDL and not LOL. Then I'd feel in on the joke.

Years back when the Lexus GS was a hot model, people were constantly changing their gs300s to 400s right in their driveways lol. Regardless of what car, I find it a little sad. Makes me think of the guy I saw on the Garden State in NJ when the 5 series model first came out a few years ago. He had an M5 Xdrive. An M5 with single tip dual exhaust and kept the xdrive lettering on the sides. Now if you are gonna fake it, do it well at least. Like the jmwilson above me, I am too wondering what year that model came out. I seem to have missed it.

I thought the difference isn't just the m-sport pkg but also the track package which gives it the same suspension set-up as the m235i? But, yeah I do agree with what you mean.

And BMW owners wonder why others look at them as arrogant individuals.

If this is what can upset you, then I'd say you've got one hell of a good life. Otherwise, life gets easier if you can let the small stuff slide especially when it comes to those modifying their own cars.

And to think that I cringe whenever someone asks me "Is that a 'real' M car?"

I almost want to debadge my car. It's got more Ms than a bag of....m&m's.

On the brake calipers (4), the trunk lid (1), front fenders (2), door sills (2), engine cover (1), steering wheel (1).

If you add in the M Performance rocker panel trim, 2 more...but that one is my fault. I think the matte black looks good.

Well technically the N55 in the M235i is a tuned version of the N55 found in other cars. The power is increased from 302 hp/295 lb/ft to 322/332.

Also buddy, the M2 rocks another tuned N55, at 355/343.

That's fuckin hilarious. Someone's got an identity crisis.

I mean it's kinda a BMW...

It's like buying a pair of CKJeans from Costco and putting Calvin Klein labels all over it.

That's still not as bad....hahahaha.

Ok buddy! I stand corrected. I am new to the 2 series and haven't studied much of the engine details. It used to be that the M cars had engines none of the cars in the same series had.

I guess nowdays BMW is all over the place.

We'll I get this point. But if bmw is the daddy. Leave the names as is. You wanna de badge your car ok, but M cars are as much as a privilege as any bmw. Don't get a 228i and pop a 335i on it, it's silly.

Oh well though. They must feel proud.
