LSD- driveshaft replacement necessary?

Asked for a quote for the M Perf LSD install on my M240i 6MT, and was quoted for a new driveshaft. This is from a reputable shop, Performance Dynamic in Mountain View CA. I have never heard of an F22 LSD install requiring a new driveshaft and think it’s a scam. Anyone have experience with this? Ridiculous quote attached:

Just installed one for my 8-speed auto and no driveshaft is needed. Also, the LSD part number they put on your quote is for the auto trans while the manual trans part number should be 33108659987. The $31.33 nut kit they're charging you for is included with the new diff so you shouldn't need that either unless you were installing a used diff.

I bought mine from MLPerformance and they shipped it to my door in the US for $1999 late last year. Here's the manual trans version - https://www.mlperformanceusa.com/pro...d52cb805&_ss=r

Thanks, I felt that something was off about this quote. Will check back with them.

It wasn't required for my installation. Unless there was something wrong with your driveshaft, I'm not clear on why they'd want to replace it.

If it was me, I'd probably go to a dealer to see what all it put in a quote; or, check with CarBahn in San Jose to see what Dinan recommends.

Just to triple down on this—No.

My install (‘19 auto) did not include a new drive shaft.
Would love to know what they say when you ask.

My guess is that they think they need to change it to match the auto LSD that they want to put in your car. The auto LSD has a different ratio than the one for the manual.
