Sunset Orangs vs Valencia Orange

Just a mildly interesting btw. I realized that once the BMW configurator was up and running we'd lose their take on Valencia. So I took some screen shots of Valencia and then went to bmw.de (which already had the updated info) and make screen shots of Sunset Orange. Mainly because I'm interested in that color and wanted to have some sense of how the configurator differences played out (realizing that that's not a perfect match to reality anyway).

What surprised me was how close they appear. Did a photoshop test and basically the Sunset moves just a touch toward the red on a color wheel plus the darkness increases a touch as well. Consistent over the car and pretty small changes overall.

I'll be interested to see it in person to see if it's quite so close when viewed in the "flesh" and under the sun.

In case it helps with the comparison, here's what Valencia can do in the sun...significant flop with gold flake tones.

Another btw. In standard "monitors and computers that aren't colour calibrated don't play well together" fashion, the image that's showing up, as viewed on my browser, is significantly less orange than the image I saw in my image program or what I see on my browser from bmwusa.com. Just another manifestation of "don't bother asking for pics of such and so colour" because it's almost guaranteed to be off.

Glad to oblige....the Crosstrek handles snow/rain/known bad parking destinations...and 2er is otherwise the daily driver. It's a great combination for all purposes and looks good to me!

Looking good buddy. Looks like you've ordered the same combo I went for. Was a little apprehensive of getting the SO ext with oyster interior vs black. How do you find the combo? Post more pics please when you pick it up. Congtrats!!!

It looks fantastic in the flesh, I was also a little worried of how it would look, that's why I took a peek just after it arrived, I'll be putting black kidney grilles on it and carbon mirror caps as I think the grey ones look bad, or I'll get the painted black

Looks outstanding....seems shifted a bit to the red away from the yellow versus Valencia. Don't overlook making the mirrors bodycolor...here's how that looks with the black kidney grilles with the slightly different VO.

Is this a US special colour? When I ordered my car in Canada in 2015 my dealer told me there is no orange colour for the 2 series

Thanks.... Valencia Orange was available on the 228i at the time, as long as you did not order MSport. I made up/went beyond the MSport functional parts with the Track Handling Package, added the larger MPerformance spoiler and black kidney grilles, and happily kept the fog lamps instead of losing them with the MSport fascia.

I chose the M sport because of that incredible steering wheel and the wheels.
I am also jealous of you guys that you don't have to put a license plate on the front bumper.
Do you have any photo of the rear of your car by any chance?
