red cars not popular these days?
I for one, love red cars but it has to be the right shade & body style. I had a red 1st gen crx si back in the day and miss that color & car. With the Melbourne red, I think it looks awesome on the 2 with its dark tones.
I'm surprised how you don't see more of them posted here or at dealers. Is it a popularity thing? Subjective, I know- just curious about the down swing I've seen over the years...

I had a lipstick-red Lotus Elan. They say red is cop-bait and this might account for its declining popularity but I didn't get into any more trouble in the Lotus than I have in any fast car before or since!

Melborne red is definitely an awesome color. I just personally liked the blue better (and I liked the history of the color and that bmw brought it back)
Although, the greatest red there is on two of the greatest BMW's ever made... hard to top |

Anyone have a MR / CR combo? Is that too much red together? Considering that combo or AW / CR which is the current combo on my 1er which is nice too-just want to look at other options b4 jumping.
#1 on M2 list here. Have to wait for all the details on that before anything else. On fence at the moment |

Red is actually the only color I have not seen in person on the 2er. At least here it is a pretty rare color on BMW's.
I have to say in pictures of member's cars on here the red, especially with a few mods, is one of my favorite colors for the 2er. |

I second this as well. In the past 6 month of driving my car, I have only seen white, moonstone, grey, and blue. But 2 Series is pretty rare in Toronto.

I also had a red CRX about a quarter century ago. Anyway, I was also surprised to see the relative lack of Red 2s on this forum and out on the streets. I have not seen any in person either. This is my first orange car and I love it, but still a fan of most red cars. Traded in my Red CTS coupe for my Bimmer. Two of the three cars before that were also red. I'm glad to see some pics from others showing love for the Melbourne Red. I'd be lying if I said it's my favorite M color, but I'd definitely take it over the white, gray, silver, and possibly black as well.

I never liked red cars until I met my ZHP. May she rest in peace

Personally I think the red looks much better w/ chrome trim, I like mine. I also decided the deep sea blue is also pretty awesome...or maybe it was metallic? the one with the slight greenish hue...

I miss my Melbourne Red...
along with the Cloth sports interior and sunroof. Still, the engine almost makes up for it in standard form |
