People can be stupid sometimes

i been getting comments on my youtube lately on my journey to getting my M240i video and my 2017 M240i walkthrough video on youtube. People kept telling me that there is no 2017 M240i because it is still 2016, like seriously? i wonder why people comment negative things before they find the correct facts about it first. well hope you guys support and check out my youtube!

Already have supported you here, and they're plain dumb for saying that. You can have next model year cars, in most cases June/July of the current year if you get in line first. We had our '15 GTI in June of 2014, for example

What I never understood is the reasoning behind all that. They introduce a new model claim it as the 2017 model year and sell it in 2016. It seems very misleading by doing such a marketing scheme and getting a jump start on sales where 11 years down the road you sell the car as a 10 year old car but in fact the in service date is 11 years. I wonder why they don't put a stop on that and actually begin sales of a 2017 car in 2017?

Then again, I guess it kind of refers to the 2017 MY features rather than the actual year of the car. My mom back in 2003 June already took possession of a 2004 Lexus which was built in Japan. This tells me that the car was built in April 2003 and shipped over to Canada but that means the 2004 model was released in the first quarter of 2003!

You said it yourself: it's marketing. Some consumers like to feel they are ahead of the pack by buying "next years new model." And it works. And, this is nothing new - been going on for decades.

As far back as I can remember. Going back to the 50s. They have been doing this.

2017 is a car sold from 1st January 2017 other wise it's a 2016 but not in America it's a 2017 half way through 2016.

As for your car it's a 2016 with maybe some small updates.

I make vids on Youtube also (not a lot about my car, but some). Ignore the ignorant comments, just keep doing what you do, and enjoy it.

Company decides it wants to change the price or scheduled maintenance. Poof,it's the new model year. Or they want to make updates. There is no reason to wait.
