Yes - very fortunate. I'm hoping it's only cosmetic. This was not a case of the "hitting a deer at 140mph" guy - I think it was a Z model that did that

Bambi Slam

Did you at least get to take it home for a few venison steaks?

Ugh, I wish! It got up and walked away after a quick power nap.

Years ago I had a friend hit a moose in a brand new honda crx

More accurately she swept the legs out from under it and it landed on top of the cabin and deformed it pretty badly.....she was unharmed but had to be cut out of the car......very lucky

The moose puked all over the car, got up and walked away.....

You know, I never really understood these moose stories until I went to Alaska last year and stood next to one. They have gates on the sides of highways to discourage and herd them out.

They also have a roadkill lottery - a list you get one. If the impossible happens and the moose is killed, they call the first person, and they have like 30min to get there and collect the moose, or else they call the next person on the list, and so on.

Yep. That is pretty awful. Reminds me of an episode of Fringe when the two universes collide and people get stuck in like walls and building beams.

We have a wonderful road that goes up over the White Mtns in NH called the King Kancamagus Hwy.....if you're ever in northern NH its a fun drive.....avoid leaf peeper season or you'll be cursing yourself stuck behind blue hair

The area nonetheless is loaded with moose.....so much so that the sign USED to have numbers of colllisions on it with the previous number xx-ed out and a new one stenciled in to indicated deaths due to collisions with moose.

The new sign isnt so dramatic or colorful

That's an epic road name. I do have some road trips up north in the works - it's so beautiful. And especially now, owning that fantastic driving machine (when she's fixed), I LOVE driving.

For sure. I wonder what became of the car (a Z4, I think). Burn it?

I hit a large snapping turtle on Friday. Didn't even faze him but scared the shit out of me. It was around 4AM on my way to a fishing trip. No damage.

Sorry to your luck, OP. This just happens to be one of those things, that you just can't control. Happens often where I live. Better a Deer than an Elk, Moose or Caribou, though! Looks like you and your car will be fine, as it could have been much worse.

I had a skunk commit suicide not long ago with my car.......had no where to go with oncoming traffic and a guard rail on the other side of me

Managed to get the front end around him but he dove head first under the rear wheel and blew his load all over the undercarriage and in the wheel well

A little vinegar and a car wash

A buddy hit a turkey recently.....its amazing how much damage a turkey can do to the front end of a vehicle

Hit a deer on the way to school when I was 16. State trooper got there, asked me if I was ok, didn't break stride, continued on to the deer and fired a round into its head as it was still alive on the side of the road. Quite a way to start my day, although the deer got the worst of it.
