Ordered the ///M Perf Illuminated door sills - $199.99 shipped from BMW Atlantic City on eBay if anyone else is looking (think they had more available). Had my eye on them for a while, under $200 was my pull the trigger number.

Finally finished installing the rest of the dry carbon fiber trim. Wow. Really makes the interior much nicer. Not too hard to get it all installed properly. Fit is nice and snug.

Very nice. I'm generally not a fan of the carbon fiber look or the MP Alcantera look, but with the black interior the dry carbon fiber works well. Enjoy.

Much appreciated. I wasn't sure how it would look once said and done, but am glad I took the leap. Any other interior color and I don't think it would look as good. I could have done without the alcantara part around the gear shift, but it was the only way to get the carbon fiber there too. It's starting to grow on me a bit.

I think I like the CF better than the aluminum on my red interior, but I have big doubts about the Alcantara on the main dash. And does it replace the black or blue trim lines, or just the aluminum bits?

You can source gloss black from the 228 to replace all the trim for like $250. It's the path of least resistance to monochromatic interior with the red really popping. I can snap a photo of mine for you later if helpful.

Oh, you mean gloss black where the aluminum is now? I was just worried about the shiny black piano black trim, or the blue, or whatever other colors.

Now I guess I'll go configure a 228 to see what that looks like ...

Hmm, gloss black is interesting and lacks all that Alcantara stuff. CF is cooler but much more costly.

I note in passing they don't let me replace the blue trim in the M240i with piano black or other options that I had when I configured.

Yes would love to see the black / red look if you have a photo or two.

Thanks!

Will take some tonight the light in my garage at work is horrible. Installed LEDs at garage at home, much better.

The trim I have is not black and red, it's black and silver. So you have what brushed or hex aluminum with black or blue accents, all your silver is gloss black on mine. Where you have black or blue I have silver that matches the steer wheel trim and gear shift surround. The gloss black has held up very well, and I actually prefer it to the CF truth be told. All kind of blends in and disappears so the cabin is really black and red. The car came with brushed and I really didn't like it with the red leather (which I love BTW). Thing the red with gloss black combo really makes the interior look a lot higher end. I had a loaner black with hex and didn't like it nearly as much.

Maybe I am just jaded from when I had a B5 S4 and the Piano Black trim was like $1500 that I never spent, so I like the gloss black.

I think what you are thinking of is gloss black with red accent, which as far as I know is not offered on the 2-series. I have seen a couple of 3 series with it.

Not sure we're communicating. My door handles and console and the dash swaths are that stamped hex? aluminum. The plastic trim color is black where the web site now shows blue.

I'd wind up, if I understand what you did, with all black everywhere. I think I'd like that as much as the CF and certainly better than CF + Alcantara, at least from the pics I've seen.

Thanks for pics if you have time, no biggie if not.

OK, so I think you have new style interior whereas mine is old. This is what I think you have with the gloss black that I am describing, and it's available in Canada. You'd have to see if your dealer could source it, or maybe as IND they can get stuff not sold here. Will send some pics of mine tonight but it's slightly different than what you would end up with I think.

Oh yes that's nice. I may have to do that. I agree, it's better looking than the CF plus gimcrackery. Thanks!

It is definitely cheaper to go with the gloss/piano black, and I must admit, it looks better than I though it would in BEM-S4's car. Didn't know that was an option when I went with the CF. All said and done, 5 trim pieces , gear shift, and gear shift surround were $802. I could have done without the alcantara on the gear shift surround, but it does look pretty decent in person.

Either route you go, I think it will be a definite upgrade in the look.

Yeah it's just a nice alternate option. The M2 CF won't work on a convertible so you're down to M Perf written on the dash - kind of a love it or hate it thing - or the aluminum. Wood wasn't my thing for this car.

The gloss is nice in that it doesn't steal the show, you don't really notice it until you do then appreciate it for being very clean looking.

With red leather the aluminum is just too much.

Wanted to mention the gloss black because no one really knows that's available as a choice.

DaleHeinz, too funny! I did the exact same thing to my 2er yesterday as you did to yours! Only difference was I bought my set of CF trim used off eBay for $450 (origin: Lithuania) and installed it in a Coral Red interior. Previous owner had already installed the CF gearshift and handbrake levers and alcantara handbrake boot and gearshift trim piece.

Personally, I like the texture of raw carbon fiber (over OEM wood trim), plus it doesn’t show dust or fingerprints. The look is more harmonious too. Nice pictures — I cant do better!

Pretended to be a snow plow!

Had to drive home in the middle of a major snow storm, with about 10" and drifting at the time. The last three blocks to my house were unplowed with a few ruts. Had to plow myself through it. My RWD performed admirably. No problems getting through anything, and a lot of cars, even some AWD, were getting stuck at every intersection. A lot of the credit needs to go to the Michelin X-Ice 3 tires.

This picture is from 3 days later. By this time I finally had all the snow out of the wheels. They were packed solid the first day, as was just about every other orifice below the beltline of the car. Couldn't go over 40mph until I got all the snow/ice out of the wheels the vibration was so bad.

I'm jealous. Can't wait to get mine out again. We have had lots of fun driving to and around Tremblant on the twisty back roads.
