And that's not a fully specked one. Check a couple of extra packages and options and you'll be paying around 100,000

Also, it looks like another vote for the ho-hum steering in this car. But, I wonder if this is simply overemphasized, as I'm more-than-satisfied with my Sports Packaged-equipped E90. (Admittedly, it has different steering mechanicals than the new 2-series.)
I was 95% ready to buy a new F30 335 to replace my 2007 E90 with sport package. The dealer had a car spec'd exactly how I wanted. I went to drive it before purchasing figuring that all of the steering woes were exaggerated and it wouldn't bother me. I don't track the car, I use it for a lively 7 miles of commuting a day so I figured there was no way it would bother me. Man was I wrong. I couldn't believe how annoying I found it. I"m sure you'd probably get used to it but it was bad enough that I didn't buy the car. It literally feels like the wheel is linked to the tires with a rubber band.... even when you set it to sport+ or whatever its called it still was no bueno for me. Everything else about the car felt like a big step up from the E90 but at the end of the day I didn't think it was going to be a fun enough car with that steering to justify $55k. Point is I really hope they've fixed it on the M235i.

Same here about the steering feel. Was planning on ordering a 435 but after the test drive i felt the same way. I got in my e92 335 and enjoyed the drive back home in that car much more than the test drive of the 435. Guess ill wait to see what the m235 has to offer...

Did you have it in "Sport +" mode? Some have said that the "weightiness" of that setting is pretty good. Curious to hear what you think...

I didn't at first so then I tried each of the different modes and while sport+ is a big improvement I still seriously hated the feel. Like was said above I got in my e90 and drove home feeling like a race car driver or something because it felt so responsive. I'm not even that picky about this stuff and it bothered me. I almost feel bad admitting it. To give you an idea:
We were pulling up to an intersection where I was turning right. I was going slow. There were cars backed up in the lane going straight so as I pulled up to the stopped cars I had to move into the right lane to get around them and turn right. As I neared the stopped cars I flicked the steering wheel right like I would in my e90 to get around it and the car BARELY moved (I'm going about 5mph at this point mind you). I then nearly panicked and had to crank the wheel and seriously almost clipped the back right corner of a stopped car when I was moving slow about 35 seconds into my test drive. This was in normal driving mode and it was crazy how much wheel input was required when moving slow to turn the car vs what happens in my e90. It is VERY VERY different than the BMW steering feel of old... again, I'm sure you'd get used to it but I'll probably never have to.

If anybody has a new 335 that didn't like the steering at first I'd love to hear if they have gotten used to it and don't think about it anymore or if it still bothers them.

It seems BMW driving modes create just as many problems as they solve: if you forget to switch to "Comfort" when slowed-down you may hit other cars because of unexpectedly heavy steering effort.

Things sound good till you get to the steering part being mute. Seems like the EPS is still not there in M235i.

I've driven a friends F30 in all modes for a good amount of time.

The Sport+ is still soft vs E9X steering, do you honestly adjust modes based on speed?

This bothered me too, enought to ask the BMW reps about it. The highest volume car BMW sells was completely missing yet they had 7 series on the floor? I was annoyed mostly because I wanted to compare interior size on the 2 and 3 directly. All they had was a 3 vert and that's not as easy to compare in my opinion.

Interesting. :/

Well I guess I can only hope that the steering feel has been sorted out to a better extent with the M235. The steering feel has always been one of my favorite aspects of driving a BMW. We shall see...

Every other manufacturer had at least one of everything. Hell Caddy had 2 ATSs and Chevy had 4 Corvettes!

Plus with all the new price leader entry level lux market cars, why wouldn't you have a 320i there? Not saying have every car in the lineup (it's too bloated) But have one of every body type.

Yes, it's not logicial anymore.... I love it more every day. I've never loved a vehicle as much... part of this must be psychological. :P

What about you? What do you think of the new M235?

I sat in one at Detroit last week. The overall size of the car was perfect. And despite my short-ish height, BMW's seating adjustments allowed me to find my perfect seating position - again.

Really? Hit the gym or something.

I must admit, however, I did hit a tree in my dad's manually steered 1972 Ford pick-up. In my defense, I was 13, and that truck had a steering wheel that was about 3 ft across, and my arms were about as big as toothpicks.

Just my 2 cents but I'm 61 and have bought 14 new BMW's and probably 15 or so other new cars and have never been to an Auto Show. I have been to many trade shows as well as consumer shows and all the trade and consumers ever wanted to see is "what's new". Most shows whether consumer or trade are slowly dying due to the internet and other sources of communication. No business is written at these things and its a huge expense and really for the trade to write articles and get "free" advertising. Live in a smaller market and you will never even get a car show so in reality it reaches very few consumers.
