Approach angles?
Anyone have the approach/departure angles of the F87? I was able to find a ground clearance spec listed here of 4.8 inches, but did not see approach or departure angles. I am moving to a Cayman GTS that will have 4.4 inches of ground clearance and a 9.7 - 14.3 degree approach/departure angle.
I found I needed to be very cautious about the front fascia / spoiler on my M2 in certain places, and I am just wondering whether the Porsche will be any better or worse. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the approach angles for the F87. Appreciate if anyone has them handy. |

The approach angle isn't all that bad on the M2 given it's relatively short front overhang (assuming no additional lip). It's probably more forgiving than even most non-sporty front wheel drive cars which have longer overhangs. Porsches generally seems to have longer front overhangs, and combined with the lower ground clearance, I imagine you'll have to be more cautious with the Porsche. I know you're talking Cayman, but there is a reason Porsche offers a front axle lift on its 911s.

While I have no info on "approach angles" for the F87 (Frankly, I'm not sure what they are) I "assume" it means the angle that provides the most clearance when approaching a rise?
If so, the clearances at the front between the two cars are likely not comparable, as the Porsche has a greater front overhang than the BMW - which means it'll touch down sooner as it will arrive at the "rise" first. Also, how does one determine the angle of approach from the driver's seat? https://s1.cdn.autoevolution.com/ima...7--5529_6.jpeg https://www.topgear.com/sites/defaul..._0637_fine.jpg |

My BMW couldn't handle my in-laws' driveway and even the dip in the road at the intersection of their street (concrete rain "gutter") was problematic to the point I typically had to go around it entirely. Certain parking lots were also no-goes. If the Porsche is even worse I am going to have to be very careful. versus |

Porsche offers front axle lift. At least on 911s.
Bmw has short overhangs which aids clearance but also makes the front end more vertical like a door. Bad for aero. As for approach just try to hit the incline with the tire first. Like getting a first down but crossing the line with your front tire rather than bumper.
