M2 manual trans idle speed

Hi,

The ’23 M2 manual big torque kicks in at 2,650 RPM, so I am wondering how zippy the car is off the line since I will be mainly doodling around town (but not always!). For example, my M550i torque kicks in at 1,800 RPM, so it’s very zippy! I’m guessing I would be getting a lot of use between 1st and 3rd gear.

It would help to know what the car idles at, if someone could please let me know. (I assume the ’23 is similar enough to the previous manual M2s to make a good enough comparison,)

Thank you, I appreciate it.

Mine idles at bout 700 RPM give or take 50. It's not so much the idling speed that dictates zippiness but how fast you can work the clutch and shifter. Modern automatics are so good that the soccer mom in a minivan next to you may beat you off the line unless you're looking for a race.

I understand, and thanks. I do miss a stick and just want to have some summer fun, and getting a bit too fastidious before I pull the trigger.

(I don't want to get any soccer moms excited so I'll probably leave them alone.) :0
