No more 'Angel Eyes' I guess...

Had a brand new G42 M240i following me today. As I watched it getting bigger in my rearview mirror I sadly realized that like that car, the new M2 will no longer carry on the ‘angel eyes’ tradition that became synonymous with BMW.

“Change is the only constant.”

First world problem no doubt about it

But I agree it’s not what you’d expect

Truly unfortunate but it is what it is

g series cars dont look like BMWs anymore.

i saw a photoshop a while back and if you remove the g42 front grill it looks like a toyota or kia. then there are the memes of the g87 m2 with the same front end as a maxima.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the G cars.

Eventually the M2 G87 will grow on people, like the M3 did (but the M3/M4 still have the angel eyes, as hexagonal as they may look.)

I mean, how can BMW bring back the kidney grille and the angel eyes if they don’t take them away for a while 😂

Indeed…like when I see the M3/4 CS/CSL reveals, all I can think about is how they look like American muscle cars. Not German cars.

Similarly, the 2 series has a more Asian design feel these days.

But the reality for me is, if they are fun to drive I would still buy. Especially the G87 since I can still get a 6MT

Yeah, the thing is, the G87 has only one real competitor in the four seater manual segment which is the previous F87. So all of the controversy over looks will likely fade over time.

If BMW can fix the front and rear bumper of the G87 for the LCI release, I will highly consider it

If not… Pasadena
