exposed wiring loom

Maybe you guys can help, it would be appreciated.

I purchased a 2014 M235i, it drives so amazing, more on that in another post.
When I went to pickup the car I noticed fibreglass insulation near the firewall in both the drivers and passenger side, near the drain. They removed some but once I removed the covers there was more
It was very difficult to remove but once I did I inspected the wiring for any knicks and did not see any. I noticed the wiring loom rubber terminates a few inches from the firewall and there is just thin coated wires but they are not in a loom. Some of them
Are at the bottom near the drain.
Is this normal. Can someone please inspect because I can take back the car. There is a cover on each side that is removed easily with a 10mm. It seems deliberate but I’m a bit surprised the wiring isn’t protected. There is no red codes in ISTA and the car drives fine. Thank you

Without pulling the cover after a quick glance under the hood I can tell you my M2 has exposed wiring near where it terminates into connectors on the cold (driver) side of the engine. The wiring on the driver side that is exposed is covered with wire loom but about 4-5in is exposed.

I wouldn’t be overly concerned. Go drive it and enjoy.

It drives amazing but once I saw all the nesting material I became concerned.

Pics of the “fiberglass insulation” you referenced? Like, Home Depot insulation? That sounds hilarious and sketchy if so.

That blows but it’s shockingly common. If all systems are functional and you don’t see any damage with a visual I say keep it and let it ride. Maybe do some detailing though while you’re in there

Wouldn’t want to get in the way of all your quality posts.

OP has nearly the same engine and these boards are dead save for your fluff. Go police your neighborhood on Nextdoor and lay off him. Add value or keep it movin.

Let’s be nice here. I didn’t say anything derogatory about the op and your answer is just totally uncalled for.

Pearl clutching confirms Nextdoor suspicions. Thanks again for your contribution here and elsewhere. Valuable stuff.

I'm curious if the M2 wires are exposed without a wiring loom near the drain as well?
