Fuel Tank Lid locked when car is locked?

I recall that in my previous Bimmers, when the car is locked, the fuel tank lid is also locked.

My M235xi fuel tank lid remains unlocked even when car is locked. Do you have to have the alarm system installed to get this feature?

Go to the fuel door and open it.

Then lock the car with your key fob and unlock the car with your key fob - you may need to double click depending on settings.

Press on the latch with fuel door open or look to see if any latch moves between the two setting of LOCKED & UNLOCKED sometimes it just a small easy adjustment to get it to work properly.

Seems to be working now.

May be the key fob was within distance and it allows me to open the lid. When I leave the key fob further away, I can no longer push to open the lid, once the car is locked.

It's annoying when I lock my car while filling it, come back out the gas station and cant close the dam lid without pressing unlock

Very cheap and budget approach, it should be possible to close when locked, or if it senses the keyfob near

I checked and I can reach the fuel cover and the passenger door handle at the same time. Poof it’s unlocked. Also,do you leave the car while you’re pumping gas?. That’s not a good habit. I’ve seen gas pumps not shut off.
