Door Style (Small discussion I had with a friend)

My friend and I were talking about this and we were talking about the relatively massive swing on the door in the 2 series and from that our thought stemmed to butterfly doors/wing doors.

I know its a little absurd sounding on a BMW but in my opinion I think it would do better against the huge door span on the 2 series.

Anyone have any opinion on this?

Not sure. I was at a dealership the other day and climbed into a Z4 they had in the showroom. The tiny little flap-door would crush me trying to fold myself in and out of it. I'm 6'2" and have a bad left knee, so climbing out of low sports cars is already tricky without having to pull my knees to my chest each time. I'm sure the 2's massive door is going to be tight in a cramped parking lot, but for me it's better than too narrow, like the Z4.

Door is a bit tricky with the handle so near the front hinge but hmm butterfly doors are supercar style for supercar prices ala Merc SLS I think

The way I see it is if the BMW i8 can pull it off,

It might be possible to have it in a two series.

It would've been a very nice alternative to having doors that have such a huge swing.

They don't actually want the entry level model be as attractive as the higher end ones.
