yes! it fitted the rear facing car seat for my little one and the booster seats without much issues. When the infant seat was installed, I know the passenger seat would not lock, so I had to hold it every time I braked, else it would tip over. once we went to a rear facing regular seat, it was fine. it was a tight fit in front but it worked ok, especially since I dont sit anywhere but the driver's seat

if you use the backseat anchors from each side, you can put it in between the seats and gives you a lot of room for the front seats

I have 2 front facing convertible car seats in the rear seats for my daughters aged 7 & 5. Absolutely no problem!

How does this all work? I am new to this and will probably need to shop for some carseats as well pretty soon. I looked at complete travel systems where you mount the car seat directly to the stroller. Isn't there like a base that goes inside the car and you just click carseat in place and vice versa?

something like this

Yes, but that's only for rear facing seats...(infants)... then you need to switch to the bigger one that stays on all the time...and around year 2 you switch it to forward facing...

That one is nice for when they are babies as you can take them out with the carseat while they are sleeping for example....

Lol, so how many seats do you need? I haven't even gotten one in my lifetime. I thought that rear facing one will be good till time comes for front facing, which would be good for another several years

Edit: looks like I would need 1 infant and then probably switch to something permanent convertible, 4-in-1 or something

just the infant with the base and then after the kid is around 1 year you can do rear facing with one of this https://www.chiccousa.com/our-produc...ible-car-seat/ which is good till they are like 5-6 and around 2 year you switch it to front-facing

Best is if you can borrow the infant one...cause you will only use it for like 8-9 months

Were you able to fit a rear-facing seat in the back as well? If so, do you mind sharing your choice?

I just bought one and it fitted fine, but you have to push front seat forward to a pretty uncomfortable position (it did lock in place) Its also just enough clearance there to take the carseat out with front folded and moved. Not sure how well it would work with a heavy baby trying to maneuver it/wiggle it out.

I have yet to check if its more room in the back behind drivers seat for 2nd passenger or ride in passenger seat in awkward position

I am just completely lost at which sedan to get if this doesnt work out....I really wanted ISF but it seems there are issues there too. I will be checking that as well later since my wife has IS350 RWD

You can use anchors to mount the carseat base in the middle position? I didnt know that, I though there would be spacing issues. Will try

It seems to work... the anchors are a little bit further away but they latch ok...

I just tried my base and it didnt work. The anchors are metal rods so there is no way I could latch them, they are like an inch or more apart.

But I did try to seat in the back (for the 1st time) and there is ton of room behind drivers seat. I am 5'7 and seat far back in reclined position (drivers seat) and yet even I was able to fit in the back fine. I could fit 2 wives in there easy

Last time my dad had trouble seating in IS350 behind me.....maybe after all 2-series is roomier then sedan. We sure take my car for Home Depot runs....cant fit shit in Lexus

Edit: fits fine in IS too. Roughly the same amount of room in front and maybe same or a little less in the back behind the driver. Easier to get the carseat out though, no need to wiggle it out from the back seat of M235i

I have a 8 month old and a 3 year old. Behind the passenger seat I have a rear facing britax b safe car seat (a carrier) and behind the diver seat I have a forward facing britax frontier clicktight. It's tight in the front passenger seat but usually if my wife is with me we're taking the x5. That said we have done it and we fit. In front of the front facing seat there is plenty of room, I sit where I normally do when my son is back there.

You guys I'm having a baby in April and have been looking sadly at an X3 thinking I gotta sell my M235i but let me try to get my car seat to fit. I have a Peg Prego Nido car seat, I gotta try the trick with putting it in the centre. Gotta make sure it fits securely over the middle "hump" between the two seats.

I have a 5 month old in a rear facing child seat. When I first mounted the seat on the passenger side, it didn't leave much room for the person in front. I've since re-positioned the seat to the middle and it now works like a charm. Both front seats can still go back and it's easy to reach back and check on your child if need be.

For those that are still shopping for a seat, I'm using an Uppababy Mesa. The base for it has the tethers that hook onto the seat latches. It fits well in our cars and connects securely. Biggest p.i.t.a. is trying to lift the seat in or out once with a heavy baby due to the distance and tight fit.

Edit: I'd also recommend getting some type of seat cover to go under the base. I just bought a cheap one from a local auto supply store, but it does the trick for absorbing the wear and tear that would otherwise be going directly to the seat.

How the hell do you fit a car seat in the center? The spacing between the latches is about an inch more then any carseat base. What am I missing? I tried to latch Nuna Pipa base but I obviously cant bent metal rods that are on the base. Are they adjustable on Mesa?

edit: nevermind, I see that MESA uses LATCH system where mechanism is flexible, Nuna has ISOFIX where mechanism is fixed
