2019 m240i

the lease on my m235i is up in August and because I've really loved my car, I'm thinking about getting an m240i next. does anyone know about when the 2019 models will be available to order and what changes we might see with it? I'm thinking since they just did a refresh the changes will be pretty minimal. thanks.

Next years production usually starts in July. You may be able to order it in late April.

2018 is a strange model year. GM is building 2019's for delivery now. MINI (which is BMW lite) is starting 2019 production in Mar/April time frame. Personally, I'd wait a bit and see what info is provided. Maybe BMW isn't going to follow suit w/ MINI, but you never know.

I bet the difference between 2018 and 2019 models will be minimal.

As someone who was deciding between and 2017/2018 and ended up getting a 2017 built in the last week of MY2017 production, the one thing I can guarantee is that in August, the MY2019 residuals will be way lower than MY2018. For that reason alone (even ignoring the fact that there will likely be very little if any changes for MY2019), I'd absolutely go with MY2018.

Lease on my 2015 M235i runs out in June. Was told by my dealer that 2018 M240i ends in March. Was told the last three months would be forgiven so I placed an order for March production to be delivered late April to early May.

If you want a 2019 I would think production would commence in time to get you your car before your current lease runs out in August.

Conversely if needed your dealer should be able to give you something to drive for a month or two if your car doesn't arrive in time.

Based on other similar threads in past years, I'd guess BMW would stop accepting orders on 2018 MY 2 Series end of March with final production completed April and possibly early May.

I'm thinking if I order a May production, assuming that is possible, it would be okay for it to sit there until end of July for ED?

I seriously doubt they would be willing to hold a car for that long. When you order for ED, they assign you a pick-up date (and time). Minimal changes of a week or so might be accommodated but not months I bet.

The last ED I did I ordered in July...September production and October delivery. Reaching out to dealers to see what they say. I want outgoing model incentives!

that's a really good point and if it holds true, I will for sure go with a 2018 unless there is some amazing new thing offered on the 2019s I really want!

We'll be lucky if we get a new color or wheels for 2019. I'm only expecting very minor iDrive/infotainment updates.

Yeah I think you are right especially since current 2 series is getting close to the end of its lifecycle.

Yeah that's a good point too, especially since b58 is still pretty new.

I just got off the phone with my sales person asking for an update on the 2018 M240i I ordered mid January and he's not gotten a build code on yet. He was saying it's possible the delay is that they are switching to 2019 right now. He doesn't expect their to be any changes in the car itself, perhaps some changes in how they do the options packages. He noted that the 4s are already on 2019s now.

I do hope they do offer a few new colours. I'd definitely go for a 2019 M240xi ragtop if they're offered a steel grey or similar.
I was going to wait for the next Gen 2er ragtop, but I see reports that the 2er ragtop is being discontinued at the end of the current gen.

thanks for the heads up on this. I'm going to check with my salesperson too and see what he says.

Do you remember where you saw that the next generation 2 series vert is being discontinued? I know I also read that somewhere, but can't find the article.
