you are clicking "code" instead of "code fdl"
code is for VO coding (codes the car to factory using the options in the vehicle order) code fdl is for making individual changes |

PROCESS: Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on the ECU CAFD and select Read Coding Data => Expand the CAFD Folder by clicking + symbol => Right-Click on the CAFD file and select Edit => Edit CAFD as desired => Click the Blue Floppy Disc Icon to Save CAFD => Click the green back arrow icon => Right-Click on the CAFD file => Select FDL CODE.

Okay that clarified everything. You guys were right, I did not do the last part, clicking the green icon and selecting FDL CODE. Thanks for your help, i appreciate it. I'm wondering if it's possible to code the door handle LED's to be active while in forward gear, not just reverse.

Im wondering what this does as well. I enabled cornering assist on my M235i but i have not noticed anything different. The headlights already turned with the steering. Im guessing this might be for those with foglights, where it will turn on the foglight on the side that your turn signal is indicating

So I successfully managed to code some features last night thanks to your help guys. There were only a few features I couldnt get coded, like folding and unfoldig the mirrors. Should I just try it a second time? I selected code fdl and everything showed up green, but when I tried locking and unlocking, it didnt work.

Thanks Shawn and Pikcachu! I was able to get some coding done on my car this afternoon. The "cheat sheet" was a big help since I can't read German.
I made a full backup of the original FA, SVT, and CAFD before starting. But IF I made a mistake and needed to restore the settings back to the original backup what the best way to do that? Import all the original CAFD files? Thanks Again! |

Awsome! Thanks pikcachu and bman6074. I changed the Delay time and it worked! And thanks for the cheat sheet! The Halo coding is the best so far!

DO NOT click "CODE" on the main ECU root as it will reset all ecus including the DME which unless you have a charger connected to the car and the car turned off it will mess things up.... just "CODE" each individual ecu you want to revert back |

I have so many different coded options now I like to know the fastest way to recode them all back if they get wiped? Is there a way to restore them all in one action from a backup file?

No, you would need to restore them one CAFD (ECU) at a time.

Ahh, was afraid that was the official answer. I need to do a second backup of all the CAFD's again just to be sure I have them all saved. The car is just perfectly coded now and really hate to lose any of them.

The only way to loose coding is if car is programmed by dealer. When this occurs, ECU gets new CAFD, and I would not take backed up data from old CAFD "A" and try to restore it to new CAFD "B" as the two may not align.

Again great information. My car is coming up for service in February and was afraid it might get re-coded by the dealer due to some unknown update. Appreciate you getting me started with coding my BMW; it has been worth the effort and one of the most enjoyable changes to the car.
