Port Installed M-Performance Exhaust Questions
I finally got the call from my dealer to confirm my order as they are placing it today. I'm being told that it is not possible to order the M-Performance exhaust and finishers by itself. They are saying the only way to get that is to get the M-Performance diffuser as well. Is this true? Also, the price I was given for these items was well over $2,000... comparing to prices on BMWUSA, I'm getting $1744, which is $1110 for the exhaust, (2) $96 for the chrome finishers, and $442 for the diffuser (if you really have to order that too). Is there some kind of labor charge at the port being added here?
Edit: Did some research and dealer here might just be a little slow... Looks like there's different part numbers for the exhaust, based on whether or not you have (or are ordering) the diffuser as well. Assuming they clicked the first one that popped up and that's it. But anyways, after more research, found the exhaust for way cheaper through SunMotors BMW... so worked out nicely! Mods feel free to delete this thread...

I find myself in the same situation. Looking at ordering a 2018 M240i Convertible if dealer can find an allocation.
I am interested in the MPE and the quote I got includes diffuser at $2400 port installed. (Not sure on what tips) Local dealer says they can do about $1950+ tax installed with the Carbon Fiber finishers. Big difference.. Since I am leasing I want to include it in the original order so it's residualized. |

You can definitely get MPE without the MPD. As you have already discovered, there are two part numbers for the MPE specifically for this reason.

This. Plus if you get the non diffuser one and add the diffuser later there's a $50 or so extension kit so you can still use the MPE.

I ordered my m240i with port install MPE with the chrome tips. I do not have the M Diffuser (I want to get it later down the line, perhaps as part of the whole M Aero kit.)

I ordered the MPE with the MP diffuser as a port-installed option on my 2015 M235i. The price at the time was $1905, but exhaust tips were also mandatory. I got the chrome tips for an additional $270. So total price for MPE, Diffuser, and Tips = $2175. No regrets about the package at all - I liked the diffuser as much as the MPE.
The tips were overpriced for sure, but they still looked like new after 3 years - I did constantly clean and protect them with Blue Magic metal polish.

I am curious as to the tips offered when ordering the MPE w/Diffuser for port installation. (ZA5), I am trying to get the Carbon Finishers (Z6M) instead of the Chrome tips (Z1T) but my CA cannot find that option on the PIA ordering guide. Anyone experienced this?

Dealer telling me only way to get the exhaust port installed is with the diffuser. Anyone know of a way around it.

BUT - your best bet is to order through SunMotors Ebay store (genuine BMW dealer and same part that you'd get at port) and just have a muffler shop slap it on for you once you get the car. Save quite a bit of $$$ and have the option of selling the stock exhaust later if you can find someone coming off their lease and needing to go back to stock.
