That post sounds like misinformed speculation for so many reasons... not the least of which being that the M2 already has the suspension of the M3/M4.
I'm sure he got those rumours from bimmerpost :P |

Ahhhhhh! So this is what Porschephiles that owned a Cayman GTS two years ago sounded like !!! A bunch of people that couldn't justify buying a Cayman GT4 for themselves, talking about how -"Ain't no way Porsche gonna make my car irrelevant ... That fast ..." . |

February 2015 (less than a year after announcing the Cayman GTS): Porsche announces the Cayman GT4 and starts taking orders.

Car manufacturers have taken to the Apple/Mobile phone model for their enthusiast lines by releasing newer better cars every year or two. They know they'll sell, so why not.
Also Porsche, look at all the people who paid and waited for a 911R, then they (not officially yet) put out a 991.2 GT3 with a manual. A little backwards in that example, but considering the price people are paying for the R (or did anyway), it's pretty dickish, if it ends up being true. And McLaren. "We'll only make 500 675LT's, coupe only" Then they a) don't number them, and b) release "500" more spiders. Then special editions for Chinese customers. And the P1 GTR, which will never be road legal. Then they have the LM upgrade available (maybe not officially through them though). And on and on... |

http://www.bimmertoday.de/2016/09/19...it-400-ps-s55/ If (and that's a huge if) BMW introduce an M2 CS with the S55, it will be priced to protect the M3/4.

Nope, the 135is was an N55. The N54 was used in the Z4 35is whatever though, in addition to the 335is and 1M.

Oh come on, it's the "big 6" of the 3 series lineup. The situation was a bit different though I agree. The N54 simply wasn't ready for the U.S. in 2006, so BMW was forced to hold off for a year. In the case of the M2, the S55 was certainly able to be dropped in.
But yeah, '07 330 owners got shafted.

No-one knows. Officially the car does not even exist yet. But if this puppy ever hits the market and gets you M3/M4 performance (or even some oomph more), I cannot see it changing hands for less than M3/M4 money (might even be North of M3/M4 money if it's kept pretty exclusive).
And should BMW decide to walk the M4 GTS route: double the price of the base M2 and you won't be far off (or will they reserve that for an outright hardcore variant à la CSL, if ever ?). All mere speculation right now. Do not take guesstimates with a pinch of salt, but with a kilo of salt.

I won't be butt hurt about my current M2 if this is a limited CS model since it would have been out of my price range anyway. Now if they dropped the S55 into the standard M2, gave it 400hp, and sold it for the same price I'd be pretty pissed. Highly doubt they would do that though.

It depends what you would actually get with the CS. If it's really just some parts from the M4, then if the base M4 is mid 60's, then why should it be above that? My thought would be that it'll be 60-61. But of course if it's limited then it doesn't matter what BMW charge because the dealers will make it more.
My wishlist for a CS, 60k with S55 + full cooling even if detuned + competition pack seats + M4 carbon fiber stuff like the driveshaft and sway bar etc. I'd love the hommage style body too, but not willing to pay much more for that or I'll be priced out. If they do go with the hommage body kit thang, I wonder if it'll be even wider so as to fit wider tires? Lastly would they have a euro option to remove rear seats and put in a roll bar? I'm surprised by the number of people who lambasted the S55 because of the "cement mixer" sound. Now that it may be used in the M2 CS, people are gushing over it.
Keep in mind, they're predicting ~400 HP which is only ~35 more than the Civic M2. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with a warrantied stage 4 tune making much more than 400 while keeping the sweet sound of the N55. Yes, a stage 4 tune with all associated FBO hardware may run close to $10k but that will most likely be (a lot) cheaper than a limited production CS.
