Without EWG harness map 2 and map 5 will be similar main differences being map 2 is additive and map 5 is absolute although optimal auto tuning will be limited without direct control of boost.

With EWG, map 5 will auto tune much more effectively than without and surpass map 2.

Remember though map 5 is learning up or down continuously so may not be able to provide full punch 1st WOT.

I heard with Map 5, it's useless unless you do a lot of WOT, high gear driving...

Not so, map 5 auto tune, with EWG harness hooked up,is able to optimise your jb4 to provide with optimal oomph to suit your driving style, cars setup and fuel on any range of throttle pedal %ages.

If you are commuting using very little throttle it will adapt to suit. My last point was that if you go from dads taxi to stop light drag racing - it may take a 2-3 red lights before map 5 has learnt up for WOT. Then you will be cooking on gas......

I'll have to check it out, then. On the dyno, on pump gas an no meth, my best runs were on map 2. Needless to say with meth, best runs are on map 7... Haha.

On the street I pretty much drive around on map 3.

Yes...... Looking into getting a drum of it. Lol.

It totally bridges the gap between the stock M235i and the punch I used to feel in my EVO X.

The car at 60-70% throttle starts to "get away" from me when on map 3. It's fun.

I don't mean to thread jack, but is there a way to run the JB4 app without the Bluetooth kit from Burger Tuning?

You would need some sort of BT transmitter I think?

Also can anyone point me in the right direction for installing the ewg connector?

I can't seem to find too much I do on it. Even on n54 tuning I only saw a 6 step install.

I believe I just need to find out where the harness plugs into then insert the two wires into the correct pin locations

You can run it without the BT kit, but you won't have a way to log or adjust your tune.

I would only run map 1, 2 (depending on mods/fuel), or 5 if you don't have a way to log.

You can also buy the USB cable to log and adjust tune. It's cheaper than the BT kit.

I use the BT kit because it's much more convenient.

It's on the passenger side of the engine bay. Towards the front of the car next to the wheel well. You'll see some coolant lines and a heat shield down there.

Make sure you have some zip ties handy and try to tie the wires away from any heat sources. I wrapped my wires in gold heat tape.

Accessible from the under the hood or do you have to get under the car? And the two wires coming off the harness go to the connector inside the jb4 box itself correct?

From under the hood. Correct about the two wires. I used the install guide on n54tech or maybe the guide on BMS website.

You might be able to do it from under the car (it might even be easier), but I'm not sure.

Ewg is near the cat. Left side of the engine bay reach your hand deep down in the void. Don't do it when your engine is hot. I strongly recommend getting a pick tool with a hook on it to pull the existing plug.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me. The two wire pins plug into the jb4 harness. The location can be found somewhere on n54 tech

I just installed mine couple days ago. This sensor was by far the most annoying one. Took me nearly an hour to get this one out. I definitely recommend a pick tool if you can ^
