Someone's already asked about a rear M235i-to-M2 conversion (and in the General forum ... I've been on a tirade today about posts in the wrong places, but I digress here): See this link.

Bottom line: your dealer's probably correct. You'd need to replace the entire front end, including the fenders -- and that's not even taking into consideration the wider track of the suspension, etc. I'd sell your M235i and use the money such a conversion would likely cost to get an actual M2.

I don't see how this is possible without something not being right because the rocker panels are shaped for the front and back fenders. So whether you replace them or not, you're going to have either rocker panels that are too wide in the back or too narrow in the front. Are you sure the dealer understood and didn't quote you for the front and back? If they quoted you the whole package they are probably even including mirror caps.

Just our of sheer curiosity, do you have the list of parts that you can post? I can think of a few:
  • 3 to 5 body panels - front bumper, left and right fenders, and maybe left and right rocker panels
  • 3 to 9 front bumper inserts (if these count) - left, right, and center vent inserts, left and right reflectors, left and right headlight washer caps, tow loop cap, BMW hood (or in this case front bumper) ornament
  • 2 fender inserts (if these count) - left and right vents
  • 2 grilles
  • 2 wheel well liners (these may also include other parts that need to be listed, like break air vent parts and the flaps to get to the headlights - could be about 6 parts right there)
  • 30 to 38 fasteners of various sorts?

It is definitely possible, costly but possible, Sooner or later someone will replicate the bumpers to fit directly on regular f22, much like rep m3 bumpers on every 3 series generation ever, I do like the way the m2 looks but think without the wider fenders (especially rear) it won't leave the same impression. If you are looking to do the work obviously with enough money the parts are available or will be. If you just want to widen the body and want to keep your m235i there is the manhart kit (and ebay reps of it) and some others

See the list of parts and there is no guarantee it will fit Cost abt 6000USD excl installation and it only for the front. If it works and abit cheaper I will still do it. Cos my M235 is a cabrio. There is no M2 cabrio in the world. I can afford a M2 but prefer a cabrio. By the way I love my M235 cabrio to bits compare with my M5. the handling is superb.

I found this one after a quick search. Doesn't look like a perfect fit though.

Rice award winner right there.
