Not possible via just coding. Either car gets provisioned for it via BMW AG, or an FSC Code and Coding is needed.

If you have NBT2 ID6, you should be able to order it via Connected Drive Store for around $300 USD I think, and then car will receive the provisioning for it.

for some reason in the uk it will not let us order on connect drive but there must be a way to do this as a guy over here (DD coding) can do it but is charging £200.

how come the options in the code seam to be there to just turn on so how would the FSC code work anyway?

It is an FSC ENABLING Code. Without the FSC Code, then the coding does not get enabled, even if coded. Same as it is for Navigation, Voice Control, etc.

I am sure DD Coding is using FSC Code Set (Russian non-OEM .bin package with 143 FSC Code) and then coding it, hence the £200 price, which cover the Kit and the Coding.

It is VIN Specific and is sold, and is the bulk of the cost charged by Coders such as the above aforementioned one.

Couldn't find anything related to this in my 04/2016 car's idrive menu.

One more question: Does this code work to switch on the foglights with the headlights?
SL_FKT_MIT_NSW aktiv
Might it also work with the light switch set to automatic and will it interfere with DRL or HBA?

(hope it is OK to create a new post for this)

A few days ago it started raining while I drove on the highway at night. So I switch on the fog lights while the HBA was on. As expected the high beam switched off when the fog lights came on. However, some minutes later the high beam started to switch on and off randomly. In addition, I noticed that the fog lights do not switch off when I manually activate the high beam or flash the lights.
This is somehow contrary to what I heard and saw in videos.
My car has not been coded yet - can someone explain this behavior?

I was reading somewhere that if one has idrive 5 from the factory (230/240), it can be coded for idrive 6 lite. Has anyone done this? I did look at the coding cheatsheet and didn't see anything there.

HU_NBT2 => HMI_ID_VERSION = ID6_light

Do you know if you lose any functions? Because the thread I saw on it had to do with someone that upgraded from ID4 to ID6 lite, and I think they lost some functions. But from my understanding, ID6 lite is more of a skin on ID5. If that's true, I'd hope no functions are lost.

Can anyone confirm that going from ID5 (when it's ID from the factory) to ID6 lite causes no loss of functions?

Thanks all!

There are no functional changes. ID5/ID6 is same hardware and firmware.

Functions are lost going from ID4 to ID5/ID6 as the hardware and firmware is different.

There is no harm in trying it out; switch it back if you do not like it. The major functions are not lost, but you do lose some like the screensaver.

I have a July 2015 build M235i, I presume I have ID4 and NBT. I'd be interested to know if anyone with ID4 NBT was able to just code in the new ID6 interface without "FSC coding info" and if so, what functions would be lost. I see that there is a company changing head units, I don't want to go that far.

You cannot.

EDIT: You would know if you have ID5:

FYI: ID5 became standard on MY'17 F22's with navigation.

Backup camera

Hey guys sorry I couldn't find this answer anywhere, but I was wondering if coding this was possible on the F22. I just found a post about a guy with an M4 with the standard camera setup on his car that was able to code the top down view for just the rear view camera. This would be very handy to see the curb when backing up. Here's a pic of what it looks like.

but I thought it must be coded to have fog lights and high beam on at the same time.
So I expected to see something like this:

however, my fog lights stay on, when I activate the high beam (not high beam assistant).
If I switch on fog lights while the assistant is on, it gets messed up, flashing others randomly (so more contrary to what it normally does).
