Washer fluid refill

I'm at just over 1,000 miles and have tried to refill the washer fluid for the first time.

I'm thrown by what looks a thick black rubber filter in the top of the reservoir. The fluid enters very slowly and its almost impossible to use a funnel for easy pouring. I don't see any way to remove this filter to add fluid and the manual says nothing about it.

Did anyone figure this out yet?

Just filled mine (jumbo sized, it took the whole bottle!). I used no funnel just poured slowly once I got it started and didn't lose a drop.

Just go to your local dealer, they'll give you some new fluid.

First German car? Even my '85 Jetta held ~5 quarts.

Both my 330 and 335 would hold just less than a full bottle. I was surprised the 235 took the whole thing and I don't think it was completely full

Odd, my '11 328i takes well over a gallon when the warning comes on, as have all of my previous BMWs. Did you not have headlight washers? That may make a difference - I could see them using a smaller tank then. Or it could be a wagon thing since it has the rear washer too. A 1/2 gallon in that Audi is pathetic, I have never owned a VW since the '85 (4 of them) that held less than a gallon (4.5L usually). My MB 300TE held nearly two gallons, as does my Rover.
