Mileage

Wifes 218i urban is getting 9lt/ 100km or about 30MPG in conversion. Not the claimed 5-6. She has it on eco mode and thinks with her type of travel the start stop actually uses more fuel when on. She always turns that function off. She drives conservatively to school and to shops locally. Would be good to get better than the mileage than shes getting given the stated. Also only 3cylinders as apposed to the 220i with 4 and 2lts.

thanks for your reply unknown , roughly how many miles was it before your mpg started to improve ? and what was the mpg to start with , I only do around 3 to 4 thousand miles a year , and would be quite happy to get 35/40 mpg
Are you generally happy with your 2at , is there anything that stands out , good or bad ?
thanks
Bob

Started low 30s, only done 16k so also low mileage, started improving after 5k, engine is surprisingly good, never breaks sweat and is a dream on long journeys, I'd be hard pushed to pick anything else when replacing

Thanks again for your reply , unknownsock, I'm happier now with your feedback that you are pleased with your 2at , theres hardly any info about them out there apart from the initial road tests from 2014, and they mostly focussed on the diesel variants I expect to get mine in about two weeks , can't wait !
thanks
Bob

218i

Most of her driving is urban start stop traffic. She has 6k km on it.
We went through at least 10 different cars till I found her the 2AT. Don't second guess your purchase. Its not just about the mileage.

Its the whole package. She hates the start stop so just switches if off since the buttons next to the start button. Its an Auto. Mostly kept on comfort or eco modes.

We had the Msport version. Looks great. The right is probably firmer than rivals, but I think that has a lot to do with the stupid run flats.

Enjoy your new 2AT

She likes the driving position and handling and ride, the CD player(Old School - this was one of her primary items must have), & easy parking.

The car has many more features that she will probably not use. HUD only because she gets migranes which to here the led flickers. The auto dipping sensor on the mirror is another little thing that bugs her. I found it surprising that they removed the sliding panel to the rear seats of the rear cargo. Now when you have the rear seats forward it leaves a big gap in the floor behind the seat. 1200AUS for the 2 panels in Service parts. So skipped that one.

Thanks for your further information BM ,Im sure I will enjoy the 2at , I have the M sport suspension option selected as I really want good handling, and as the tyres are not run flat on my car (SE) it should be just right for me
Im really looking forward to getting it now , about another two weeks to wait
Bob

Got my 218i at auto a few days ago , must say I love it , beautiful drive , nice high driving position and the 218i engine is so responsive
it's hard to believe it's only 1500 cc , currently getting 38/39 mpg , but that's driving really carefully, I expect it to drop a bit with normal driving, overall VERY impressed
