I'm going to order an M235i convertible in about a week. I want to ensure I get a good deal with keeping in mind the dealership has to make fair profit. Can you guys let me know if the following is reasonable?


m235i convertible
Sensatec
Cold weather
Parking assist
$52,045 msrp


I would like to walk out the door at 54k with an extended warranty.
That means I will need the car price to drop to 48k before tax/tag/title and warranty.

Is that reasonable?

Possible to get done in certain parts of the country, but unreasonable to expect that level of discount as if it's easily given. It is a pretty aggressive discount. Just got one with more options for my GF last week at $3K off.

GETTING A GOOD DEAL 101:

Getting a good deal on a purchase is dependent upon many factors.

1. Business practices of your dealership.
2. How many cars they've sold that month.
3. How many cars they need to sell in a certain month.
4. Time of year and cycle 2015 / 2016's on the ground.
5. The competence of your CA and his/her relationship with the Sales Mgr.
6. Your relationship with the Dealership.
7. If you have a trade... how badly they need used inventory.
8. Your personality and how you approach the deal, always be nice but stand your ground.
9. If your car is in dealer inventory, needs to be dealer traded or ordered.
10. Try to never deal with internet sales people.

Rule of thumb is a 6% discount = decent. 7% is a bit more aggressive but possible. Also, how many "goodies" they give you in accessories and discounts on parts. If you're after something that is "hot" (M2, M3, M4) these rules may not apply. Unless your Dealership loves you !

On a side note: DEALER FEES / DOC FEES are important and should never be ignored. I've had deals with zero dealer fees and other that have gone up to $495.

If you do Euro delivery doesnt that require you to "eat up" any savings with transporting it back to your home country? Im assuming you would have to line transportation up and soak up the risk of shipping..

you buy it thru the dealer just like you would there...but you would have to buy a plane ticket to Munich. if you wanted you really only have to spen maybe 3 nights there, you would give them $75 dollars and they would send it on its way to the boat...all shipping cost is included

WOW..That's crazy! So basically you can pay for your trip to Germany with the savings.

A couple of additional questions...

Do you buy the car there or here?
If you buy the car here do you just specify Euro delivery?
If you buy there is US financing a hassle?
When the car is delivered to the U.S do you have to meet the car at the dock or will they deliver it to any dealership you want?
Why the massive discounts if they still have to ship it? What is the catch?

these are the MSRP.. then you would have the dealer start at Euro invoice..Dealer will add about $1500 to you best price so they make a little..if they charge you more then 1700 call another dealer.

you could use BMW finance or any other..you could even lease the car

You could pick it up in Munich then have it shipped to SC and do the pick up there also.

So yes you could get trip to Germany for the same price..read the forums lots of info..

I don't think you'll get quite that low unless you find a 2015 matching that spec rather than ordering, that would be below invoice. Otherwise your best bet is to do Euro Delivery.

From my understanding, Euro Delivery isn't really a hassle at all. I'd check out some posts about it over at Bimmerfest as they are big on it. The biggest thing is whether or not you want to go to Germany for a vacation. Also make sure you decide quickly and go before 2016 if you do plan on doing it. Any car delivered after Jan 1 is subject to the change in pricing. The discount is going from 7% to 5% (so roughly +$1,000 on our cars)

Look for some of the forum sponsors, there's some here and some at Bimmerfest as well. Some particular CAs do a lot of Euro Delivery deals cross country. I believe there is one out of GA though seeing as that's where you're from.
