Custom License Plate

Not sure if this is the right sub-forum... please forgive me if not.

So here's the lo-down. My name is Scott, I'm a bit of a nerd (I own an IT firm), and I already have a custom licence plate BEEEMEUP on the car the M235i is replacing.

We also have an X3 with a regular randomized license plate.

I searched and BEMRMEUP is also available!

Should I:
  • Transfer BEEEMEUP to the M235i and find a different customized plate for the X3
  • Get BEMRMEUP for the M235i and transfer BEEEMEUP to the X3 (plate is showing wear)
  • Transfer BEEEMEUP to the M235i (more representative of my name) and get BEMRMEUP for the X3
  • OMG, too much dork going on here, stop the madness

I think it's a personal decision and you should do whatever makes you the most happy. I'm personally not a fan of vanity plates (I have one on one of my cars and I'm sick of it). However, for the M235i, I got a BMW CCA license plate through Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation.. Maybe you have something like that in Ontario?

I was very tempted to opt for choice 4 (the OMG choice) and I suspect that will be the landslide winner in this poll, but I felt like you really were looking for advice so I chose option 1. I like personalized plates and I've had the same one on my last four cars, but I only like them if its obvious what they mean, like yours. I refuse to rack my brain trying to figure out someone's whole sentence expressed in seven letters/numbers. I find those personalized plates annoying and completely self centered.

i voted neither. don't like vanity plates. i am also a giant geek. i would get regular plates and have a small (to keep it relatively classy) sticker of the emblem of the rebel alliance centered and low in my back window #subjective #personalopinion

Your poll choice #2 is undecipherable. Just move to Michigan. These are available, per the Secretary of State website:

I'm actually ok with the use of vanity plates as an expression of one's dorkiness (I own my share of custom plates), but do you really want two cars with plates that say pretty much the same thing? Personally, I'd take the older plates off and put them on my garage wall (resting place of a number of mine), get the BEMRMEUP ones for the M235i because they get your ST/BMW message across better than the original ones do (unless those original ones relate more to your name than to the ST reference), and find something different for the X3 if you want to give another $200 + tax to MTO. So, kind of an option 5. Hope that helps. Live long and prosper!

(Although I do have to say I like the idea of the classy rebel alliance sticker, but I'm not interested in starting a SW/ST flame war )

I had vanity plates and wanted to be a bit more 'anonymous.' I opted for a California specialty plate to help spread the word... artwork created and donated by actor/artist Pierce Brosnan.

Thanks for all your help. I'm definitely keeping BEEEMEUP so I'll transfer it to the new M235i. I don't want similar plates on the two vehicles so I'll find something else for the X3 or just leave it as-is. Thanks.
