When I first bought the C230 (4 banger), the very next year they made it a V6.
Then I pickup the first year 325 and bmw decides to make a 328 the next year Now I got a M235 and they're coming out with a M240...WTF

I doubt the engine improvement will be a big deal in terms of performance, just tune yours and it will be faster than the new one.

Don't worry there is plenty of time left for BMW to screw something up and make the new car much worse. Maybe it will be down on torque to 300 lb-ft or something or lag half to hell.
Newer =/= better. This is the same as all the people who cry about iPhones getting better every year. If you buy something new hoping nothing better comes along in the future you are going to have a bad time. You car is just as good today as the day you bought it. And a year from today it will be just as good as today. the only thing that is changing is your perception of it. |

the only thing that stops my 235 from being perfect is a wide body. Even that is personal preference the car is wonderful in almost every way. I love my freaking car but i have only had it for 12 hours.

Dude there's always something newer/updated around the corner doesn't mean its better but it's just evolution I guess. It affects everything from cars to electronics mostly but pretty much everything else. Enjoy your car it's one hell of a machine and don't spend too much time dwelling over the 240. It's probably not going to be that big of a difference.

The only thing I'd care about is the M2 really. But I think most people knew about it before they bought their M235i so I don't think it's a big deal.

Q2 2016 is ages in a car world where many people replace these things every 3-4 years. Heck the car could be on a G body by then |

For me, I have no problem waiting that long because I have other cars to play with, and I want my first new car buying experience to be really special.

Life Cycle refreshes and model year improvements are part of every car. If you always want the latest and greatest, lease.
Otherwise accept the fact that every 3 years will be a new model. This has been the case for decades. If it bothers you, wait to buy a car when the cycle resets - but be prepared to deal with all the problems that first year models are prone to.

Trust me, you weren't missing out on much on the C230 V6. Worst car I have EVER owned. With the M235i, the car, while it does seem new, is actually pretty polished and based off of other platforms. I.e. heavy F30 influence and comparability. The N55 motor has also been around for quite some time. So it really is a fairly poised car in my eye. As seen by pretty good reliability and overall a good driver experience. I love the 2er. The out the gate color options were phenomenal as well. Alpine/Terra... Yes.

Waiting to see how this plays out as this may simply be a name change for the m235i. Now if they drop the B58 in the 2016 model I'd be a bit jelly.

My first new car was a 1970 Capri with the 1600 cc 4-banger engine. Not 6 months later, Mercury offered the car with a much peppier 2000 cc 4-banger engine, and for only 50 bucks more! I was really PO'd! Life has been like that ever since.

These days with all the leaked info you can peek ahead and find something you'll be satisfied with for a while. There will always be "bigger an better" but of course, at a cost. Perhaps start doing two year leases if you always want the latest and greatest? Cars are an expensive hobby!

I'm good, I am happy with my car and plan on doing pure stage 1 in the spring/summer and have some parts that will be manufactured and produced using my car as a mold

Progress marches on....
However, consider this...there's nowhere to go but down. As I've pointed out in multiple other threads, the M235i has been the best new car out of BMW in a LONG time. Virtually every review is glowing. It may be hard to get the sweet spot of performance/comfort/size/mpg/appearance/price as nicely as the M235i. Not saying that the M240 will be worse, or even that the M2 will suck. And both could be better than the M235i. It's simply too early to tell re either. However, take comfort that your driving a home run in the M235i. |

It's 10 more hp so WTF. Yes if you had a BMW335 at 300hp and it goes to 330 hp its a big deal but 320 to 330 will probably not be any different because the 320 might be underrated. I've owned BMW's since 1995 so I'm used to the model number on engines going in every direction but never making any sense.
