What are the first inexpensive modifications you should do to our cars first?

I was wondering what is the first "mandatory" modification that should be done in our cars first. For less than $500 and it can be mechanical or visual mod. If you have done them already back your opinion. I want to see what are some opinions from current owners as i anxiously wait for my car

Some nice inexpensive cosmetic mods to start are tints, black kidney grilles, ind paint matched front and rear reflectors.. Mechanical would be JB4

I thought about the black kidney grills, but personally I find that the stock grills look terrific in combination with the bright housings above the headlights.

One thing I don't like is the armrest, which places the arm at a strange angle relative to the manual shifter. Shifting feels more natural to me when the armrest cover is open. I guess we manual shift guys are second class citizens these days.

Like to hear if there is a genius solution to this.

I personally love the black grilles but i can see why you would like the stock ones also. As far as the armrest goes i never heard of any complaints from customers i will look into it see if theres any solution to it

I don't have mine yet but I did order it with the black kidney grills. So maybe that doesn't count as a mod.

My first mod after that will be the stainless pedal covers. They're cheap, racy looking, and looks easy enough to do as DIY.

I havent really looked into the pedal covers. How much are they for a manual car?

For the M235i, MSRP is $150. I've seen them as low as $112.50. I think manual and automatic is the same price, which doesn't make sense.

Part number (manual) 35 00 2 232 278

You can get them from sunmotors for $103 here http://www.ebay.com/sch/sunmotorsbmw...p2047675.l2562
One other thing to get if you have MT is M Performance shift knob.
It makes shifting action a little bit crispier and shorter.

I'm waiting for that knob in some finish other than CF and alcantara. They have a very good-looking one in aluminum and black leather, but it only fits the 1 Series.

I inquired about this in a previous thread and got no replies I wanted to order the standard m shift knob in the 235 (not a fan of the performance knob) but i wasnt sure if it will fit right in or if i needed the boot/clip as well

Doesn't your armrest slide back? I know mine does. It was actually a huge nuisance to my girlfriend who would use the armrest to prop herself up in order to sit cross-legged on the seat, and the thing would slide back on her inadvertently.

Personally, the black grills were the first for me. The pedals are a good one too. I got the all-weather floor mats from the sportline trim (black with red trim). Tints. A good exterior detail to the paint with some sealant makes the metallics really pop. Gloss black or body colored side mirrors, unless you're going Carbon Fiber. M Performance spoiler.

Those are mine...

The pedal covers seem interesting. However, the stock pedals are just so perfectly set up for heel and toe downshifting I'd be worried that the larger, presumably taller, surfaces of the pedal covers would screw this up. Willing to listen to reports to the contrary.
