Help with pricing to buy: 2104 M235i (build sheet attached)

I'm looking at a used 2014 M235i that is for sale by a BMW dealer in my state of WA. I've been trading emails with GM of the dealer. 6MT car which I desire.

We started at $47,999. We are now at $45,339 plus tax, license, and doc fee.

I offered $42,500 which I thought was fair for a "used" M235i. Car has 4200 miles. He's been very responsive via email although did mention that these cars "are hard to find". I get that.

Am I close on pricing?? Any other thoughts on options etc are welcomed!

Just for your reference, I got a slightly larger discount from MSRP on a *new* 2015 M235i that I custom ordered, before incentives. If I were you, I'd either order new and get the exact car you want, or insist on a steeper discount. My CA is David Padgalskis at BMW of Portland, he'll be happy to hook you up, I imagine: http://www.dealerrater.com/sales/Dav...review-164666/ dpadgalskas@bmwportland.com

Thanks for the feedback and his reviews are very favorable. This car is the color I want but I need to do a bit more research. I'd been looking for an E92 M3 for quite a while and essentially changed recently to the M235i search. It was a recent switch and I'm realizing I"m not quite as up to speed on what exact options I want so that is a good point you make. Cheers.

Your offer is more than generous. Stick to it since the 2016 introductions aren't that far away. Rare only because I see more and more dealership not stocking the M235i because sale from lot inventory are sluggish to say the least.

Thanks. I just realized this doesn't have the tech pkg which I want. Oops!

Noticed that too but thought you conscientiously omitted it in favor of the other "wished" options. Stay the course. The right car at the price you want to pay for is out there. Good luck.

My bad---I just missed that it didn't have the Tech Pkg. I saw the screen in the pics that the dealer posted and thought that meant Nav etc. Oops.

I will wait for the right car. Thanks again.

1/2 of your statement is true and 1/2 is totally false. Where you came up with that last statement is beyond belief and totally false. Every dealer in the US had a total allocation of 2 series for the entire year in 2014. They could decide between M235 or build 228's with their allocation. The same factory builds the i3, X1 etc and is basically maxed out because they are going to build i3 before they build something else. The amount of inventory nationally still remains extrembly low on M235 and just because a couple dealers have some doesn't mean that's what it's like nationally. My dealer easily sold all his allocation and could have sold many more M235 and has none in stock. Since the 4 series was launched just prior to the 2 and they make a lot more money on the 4 they loaded up inventory and pushed 4 series. The national inventory on M235 for the entire year of 2014 averaged below 200 units for the entire US. Go to Autotrader and it shows how many and where they are available.

I've recently researched on-line classifieds e.g., AutoTrader, CarGurus, etc. before coming to this conclusion. Average two months 2014's unsold in dealer inventory.

I tend to agree that they are not moving as fast as I thought. This one at BMW Seattle I looked at in late Dec 2014. They came down about $1200 on the price since.

I was looking at the same exact car before deciding against it. I wish they didn't add on all the M performance bits - I can live without them or nav package. I think the M performance parts is what keeping the price of this car high..

There is a white 2014 in Tri-cities with no Nav if that fits your requirements? It shows up in Auto Trader. Cheers.

Thanks! Did they ever get back to you and consider your original offer price, or are they holding firm at the $45k price?

He did get back to me yesterday wondering if I was still interested. I said I really want an M235i with the Tech Pkg/Nav. He replied "understood!" But we never got to the final price part but am thinking he could move down yes.

All in all very responsive. Tri-Cities BMW in WA state. GM is TJ Bush.
