Can the regular M235i exhaust tips be used with M Performance exhaust?

I saw that the M Performance muffler does not come with tips and the two options are carbon fiber or chrome. I don't like either and I think the black chrome that comes standard with the car look great with Mineral Gray.

Can the tips be reused? Would they have to be cut off and welded to the M Performance muffler?

Yes, it does.. I went to dealer and installed M performance exhaust and mechanic put original one new exhaust... because he thought there was no tip for new one.. It was weird but from that incident I realized stock tips fit on M Performance Exhaust.

Interesting. This is the first time I have read this. One of the drawbacks to the M Performance muffler for me was the chrome exhaust tips. I love the original tips better and won't require constant polishing if this holds true. Can someone else confirm this?

So did they have to cut off the tips and weld them on the M Performance muffler or how do they de-attach/attach?

That's fantastic. I'm looking to get the exhaust, hopefully today. I would love to keep the stock tips.

I'd have to check but I believe there was a set screw holding on the stock exhaust tip.

Yes, both stock and PE tips are held on with an allen screw. Undo and rubber hammered off.

It requires just a small hexagon tool to hold tips. It doesn't need any welding or cutting. In addition, installing exhaust was super easy. You might do your self if u have safe space to do it.

Once my new PE muffler comes in this week I will note here the size Torx head used on the set screw.

Are you sure about this? My stock black tips don't have any set screw just a guide post on the pipe that slides into a slot on the tips. Hopefully someone can confirm this.

New MPE delivered to my house today. Will check it out and look under the car at the factory covers and see if there is a set screw or not.

A good yank and they did come off without incident. Installing them on the PE system will require quite a bit of force since the pipe diameter is larger than the stock pipes. Hopefully the tension clips on the black tips won't break when installing them.

if the stock tips do fit, then many of us wasted a good amount of money on useless tips (unless you guys prefer chrome)

Just installed with stock diffuser and stock black tips, fits perfect just need a rubber mallet to fit the stock tips on. Looks perfect sounds great. Will post some pics later.

If you don't like the look of chrome MPE, I powder coated mine in satin black.
