Let's say you're looking at a 435i and the M2 is the same price... that's a business dilemma for BMW. I mean, they're not making an ///M version of the F20, so why would they make one of the F22? And certainly, why would they develop an all new 4 cylinder engine for such a limited application? I'm just sayin'....

i mean audi keeps a lot of RS models away from us...
The Base 1M MSRP is the same as the Base 335i Coupe. Don't know if that's a business dilemma at all. Those who want a 435i will be a different crowd than those who'd want a M2.

Good point. Well taken.

Let me throw this at you - let's say the M2 has 360+ hp (in that range), LSD, DCT and a totally reworked suspension; how much more $$ would you be willing to spend over the M235i?

Not a penny over 1M MSRP, especially if it is a 4cyl. So 47-50k *in the USA* is the sweet spot for me. That was a limited production car so I can justify that being in that price range, but since this wont be, it wouldn't be fair of M to charge more for it.
It is supposed to be the baby M that caters to the younger enthusiasts after all.

given that a well-equipped 328i now costs 45K and that entry price for the M3 will prob go up past 65K; hard to imagine anything carrying the ///M badge would start at anything less than 50K. Given the 135is (currently) starts at 43K, my guess would be M235i starts at 45K, while the actual M2 starts at 55K.

All you need are some Blizzaks.

This is my second 135 and I've never had a problem in the winter, because I've always had snows on it in the winter . And my driveway has a nice hill...

That would make sense - probably as close to 50k as they can.

Nicely equipped, it will be pushing 60....

Since Mercedes launched the A45 AMG and the upcoming CLA45 AMG, I don't think BMW has a choice. Compete or forfeit the market to others.

Too bad the US won't get any of the diesels, as it is rumored that VW will bring the Golf GTD to our shores.

I think the 4cyl is just a rumor. Doesnt make sense to offer the M234i as an 6 cyl and the M2 as a 4 cyl.
Yep. Didn't make sense when they made the E30M3 either right? Lol

I apologize, I read back over your post, and all I can figure is that I must have misread something the last time. Looks like I was making an argument that didn't exist

Sayed about thousand times, but NA inline four whit ITB´s sound very good, but TC I4 not, if it not some sick revving race engine like WRC Mini whit something over 300bhp and 8500rpm redline, but there might be change that Bmw make S4X engine 2.0L engine whit 8000rpm redline, but I don´t believe, because M2 will be car whit low sell volume(5000-10000pcs/year) and possible choise is that it get S55 engine, maybe just lower redline or N55 whit M3 chassis like 1M.
