ECU glitch this morning

The ECU in my M235i burped this morning during my commute. It's heartening to see the Germans continue this fine tradition of SW glitches.

Door lock malfunction is an annual tradition in my E46 330i. Press keyfob once the driver door unlocks, press again the remaining doors unlock. What sometimes happen is the driver door will unlock but remaining doors won't. This is resolved by locking the car again then retry. Then earlier this year after the door lock malfunctioned, the ECU shut power to the engine while I was coasting in neutral. It prompted the wife to suggest I buy a new car, which leads me to the M235i.

So I'm chilling in my brand-new M325i (1300mi on the odometer) at the stop light in comfort mode, engine auto-off. The light turns green.

Depress the clutch and shift into 1st gear and gave it gas, nothing happens.
Shift into neutral then back and try again, still nothing.
Notice the engine is still off so I press the on/off button. Nothing.
Press on/off again (maybe 2 times), finally the car turns off.
I can then turn it back on and drive off.

Luckily there was nobody behind me at the intersection watching me and the car embarrass ourselves.

Weird... I've had my M235 manual since May 2014 and haven't had anything like that happen...

Weird. That's never happened to me in the 228. I usually have the start/stop turned off though. Maybe there is a faulty clutch sensor.

Rather disheartening, I'd say a visit to your dealer would be wise. Good luck.

This happened to me once.

I've found that the car shut off after I put the clutch in and put it in gear. Something happened where it just, for some reason, went from READY to OFF and I'm not really sure why. I was picking on it while waiting for the light so maybe it was something I did; User error I suppose.

Not a big deal.

I guess that depends on how one defines "common".

I've had the ASS system randomly fart out on my old F30 but have not had any issues on the F2x.

If it's reproducible, then you can bring the car in for service, it could be a bad sensor or short in one of the connections that should be triggering the car to wake back up.

If it isn't, then you can always just leave the ASS system off. I leave mine on most of the time but there are points where it just becomes irritating and I turn it off (heavy traffic, pulling out of parking lots)
