With the unit volume contract that is now unused with Magna, it can be utilized as a flexible surge line before dedicated series production is needed.
Again that's great information, and I appreciate you sharing even more detail. But as far as what they call the car from a model year perspective it's not related to where it is produced. Outside the US, model years may be different or not even used at all. I'm still not seeing a good reason for an MY2017 M5 all of the sudden. It will be interesting to see if they do indeed extend production beyond 10/16. Certainly I expect the 5 Series sedan will still end 10/16, though I suppose even that is no sure bet despite that no MY2017 5 Series information is given in the OP.

I'm going off vague memory but I think the G30 is slated to be introduced as MY2018 in the US. The Production map for MY2016 only addresses the production dates for the factories that supply the US. It makes sense if my theory that Magna, acting as a pre-launch surge line, will begin G30 series production next month, then cover Spartanburg during its retooling, followed by a short run of MY17 F10M to fill the gap in certain markets so that there is at least one 5er product available.

BMW is doooooomed!

Kidding of course. It almost seems unprecedented the annual improvements/options they have offered on the 3-series, especially M3.

It took 2.5 model years since the e90 LCI for any new tweaks/improvements. The f80 has had two major changes in just one year.

Huh? E90 M3 production spanned a whopping 10 months when the rather extensive LCI was released. What two major changes have occurred with the F80 in one year besides some interior trim and Tail lights?

Kinda annoyed the 328 -> 330 only costs $100 more, having just ordered a MY2016 328.

Even adjusted for inflation and usual general BMW price increase year over year, this is no material increase in price for iDrive 5.0 with WiFi and the B48 engine.
Isn't MY2017 the first year with the nerfed BMW service plan? Assuming you get the better service plan the Delta will probably be more than the $100. Unless of course you are just leasing it for 3 years and are easy on the brakes...

I see where you are coming from now. I guess we'll see what happens in the fall. The MY2017 F10 M5 I can sort or reason through since there obviously won't be an MY2017 F90 M5. But I'll be even more surprised if we see an MY2017 F10 5 Series. Granted, for a new model like the G30 it's preferable to market it as an early MY2018 than a late MY2017. They didn't go that route with the F30 (it was an MY2012 that released in early 2012), but perhaps they are switching it up.

It's rather confusing and reeks of a rushed last minute release. There should be MY2017 cars in transit or possible sitting in ports awaiting release so pricing has to be disclosed ASAP to process the conformity certificates. The only ones that are crystal clear are the ones specifically listed as not incuded in this release of scepter for X1. All other X Models are impacted by the Spartanburg retooling, and the 330i/iX models have multiple internal model codes with varying emissions compliance and are sourced from more than one factory.

The omission of M6 models is peculiar, but there is a bit more clarity with the 5er and Magna. The leaked details are 100,000 G30 5er during year one with an excess 20,000 unit surge with 90 day notice and additional models will be added and removed from time to time. China is separate so this could cover roughly 60% of the estimated first year production demand for all remaing global markets combined. What not shared is precisely when this will actually begin. The assembly lines in Graz are physically capable of of this volume in 4 months which would fit nicely with my theory and the known EOP/SOP dates that are not changed. It could go a completely different direction as well.

The sudden decline in sales so far this year and the decisions made to address the over-stock much made almost all the leaked 2016/2017 product plan info earlier than April useless. BMW won't make the same mistake again by incentivizing leases to artificially stimulate short term sales growth. Financially, the expenses incurred to adjust production rates to meet market demands and hold inventory longer than normal may not be popular amongst the members here, but operationally, its a much more responsible approach. The last time this scenario appeared, the 2-4 year losses were in the billions of Euros just from residual lease incentives from the US alone.

So, I guess they are now opting to call it a 2017 for these last few months (starting date not disclosed, apparently), even though no M5 will actually be produced in the year 2017? I suppose this is only possible since there will be a gap between the F10 M5 and F90 M5 production. The 2017 5 Series on the other hand will be a G30 rather than an F10.
Update from BMW NA: The 2017 M5 was a misprint in the press release. There will be no model year 2017 M5, and the F10 M5's final model year will be as a 2016.

2013-2014 prices are in the dumpster already. When new gen comes out its going to be a blood bath.

Is that right?
No it does not.

The Executive Package now receives the Wireless Charging and Wi-Fi Hotspot with Enhanced USB and Bluetooth and it is now a $1,400 optional package instead of $1,250.

The M Drivers is offered for $2.500 but most likely it will be added as part of one of the existing package options. The M Drivers package cannot be ordered individually.
