Model Year 2015 - Week 27 Scheduled for Production

Was just told by BMW customer service my MY2015 235i is scheduled for production for week 27 (U.S. delivery). Must be the first week for 2015's to go into production for U.S. market. Anybody else with a 2015 scheduled for production yet? Anybody else with this production week doing performance center delivery?

I am right behind you with a 228i in week 28....seems appropriate. Week 27 is the first week for 2015 production, so all of the changes Engineering collected from first-year experience should apply to your car!

I'm taking delivery at my dealer, right after the clear bra is applied! This may become my first-ever chipless car!

That's not accurate at all.. Small changes in parts that are failing and being replaced by new parts are applied throughout the year.

The only real updates happen at LCI .. Enjoy your 2015 but I assure it's no different in any way than. 2014

It's accurate to a large degree....although significant failures are rectified during the year as production goes. But vehicle manufacturers, including the one I worked for for a couple of decades, collect CNs (change notices) and prefer to do a coordinated V1 change if at all possible. Customer satisfaction (BSR, for example) and less critical issues are bundled for launch at V1 to minimize disruption and operator retraining during the year. Tooling lead times for superseding part numbers can make same-year change impractical. Of course, major issues, if found, are corrected as a running change, ASAP.

Just found out that I also have a week 27 production.
Not doing a performance center delivery though. Do they have one on the west coast?

I only have the initial inquiry report provided by the dealer salesman for my MY2015 m235i, about 2 weeks ago.

I've asked him to let me know once he received additional information so that I could track progress, but I think he's lazy and forgets to follow-up. Don't want to bug him either.

Would the info on the Vehicle Inquiry Report provided be enough to track from BMW directly? If so, can someone provide the ph# for the BMW customer service to inquire about my MY2015 235i as well?

First step, ask your CA for your production number. Asking for that would not be considered bugging him. If he cannot provide it, he doesn't have a slot for you yet and he has not officially placed your order. When you get production ID call the 800 number. It can be found at bmwusa under contact.

I'm scheduled for week 27 too. Don't we start production next week? I thought we are currently in week 26.

I was confused also but I am beginning to think the week number could be end of build not start. When I called, a couple of times they said end of production was week 27.

Cool. Which dealership are you ordering from? So far I've only seen 1 white m235i and an orange 228i in Socal.

I'm ordering from Sterling BMW in Newport. When I was looking to test drive, they were the only one (at the time) that had an M235i. I live in LA, but I was willing to take the trip. Further, my CA at Newport happens to be a "BMW Product Genius" and actually knew things about the car, unlike normal salespeople, so I decided to just order from them.

For those in week 27 production (MY 2015's) and being shipped to U.S., there is currently a Monroney/EPA hold on the cars (window tag). This is for U.S. cars only. Every new model year, the EPA has to approve the car. That means the dealer cannot deliver them until the hold is released. The cars will remain at the VPC until such time as the hold is removed. The good news is that the cars will at least be shipped from Germany to the U.S. This is per the performance center delivery folks in South Carolina. I'm sure the same holds true for normal dealer deliveries. Hopefully the hold will be removed while in shipping. I have read in other forums that this has frequently been the case. I'll report back when the hold has been removed.

That was probably week 27 for completion. That is what mine was. Are you doing PCD?
