Would you guys wear the DINAN badge on your car?

No question that it will enhance the resale value of what is now a DINAN 228i M-Sport but I'm not sure that mounting the badge in place of the 228i badge on the right hand side of the trunk lid is exactly my style. The car has no other purely aesthetic mods and looks stock apart from the 1/2" drop and tint. I'd be interested in your opinions, especially if we can avoid flaming.

Here's how I weigh it up:

Pros:

I earned it
I am proud of the car
It no longer drives anything like a stock 228i
It's not too blingy
It's a signal to other enthusiasts

Cons:
Catnip for thieves
Catnip for vandals
I'd need to replace my DINAN rear LP frame or the car will look like a billboard on wheels (it also has DINAN engraved exhaust tips)
Maybe it is blingy
Possible provocation to coppers

Thoughts?

I'd sell it but that's just me. Debadged my trunk lid think it looks a lot better. That said purely personal preference do whatever you want. Don't think it will add anything to resale on top of what the mods themselves did though. Be prepared to get some but not all of that $ back.

If I had the money to burn with Dinan mods I'd rock the badge.

As would I. But it would have to be a black badge since I've blackened the other badging on my car ... and I'd likely replace the '228i' with it. The only peeps who would know what the DINAN represented, anyway, would instantly know that I had a 228i and not a 235.

Dinan name never looked good to me. Looks like cheap aftermarket tagged on logo.

To badge or not to...all personal. BUT I have always wondered why those who de-badge the model, not just go ahead and remove the Roundel as well. Fill it in and make everyone wonder what it is. No, most keep the BMW, for whatever reason--hey its a BMW.

So might as well keep the rest of the badges. Personally I like them, and appreciate in our chapter those who have the DINAN on the back. It does not deter at all. Go for it, you paid for it.

My first question is, to whom are you showing the badge? If you get pleasure from seeing it there, for whatever reason, then, yes, of course. If you are doing it primarily to show other people, then I would skip it...a low-value exercise of little importance.

I think for the most part it's not about disguising the model ie making someone thing your 228 is a 235 or whatever. At least around here it seems mostly just for a clean look, like they do in Europe.

I have to agree with merc. I don't know if it's the type face, spacing or what but the Dinan badge always looked cheap to me.

I'd definitely put it on. Probably on the left side and leave the 228i on the right.I'm not a de-badger and there are so few on the road up here it needs all the ID it can get.

Most if not all that I have seen have the dinan on the left with the regular badge unmolested on the right.

Yes but if I am going to do it I don't want to add badges to the car. Swapping one for another is a little better for my taste.

Whatever floats your boat

If I may offer another more stealth alternative (if you want to go that route) I have nothing at all on the outside of my car but have all kinds of decals inside the trunk. I'm the only one to ever see them and it makes me laugh. Anyway I got mostly stuff that is on the car, along with a few just for fun. If you want a Dinan badge but kind of low key I can put you in contact w someone to do a decal for you in BMW text on chrome vinyl for like $20. Disregard the dry cleaning and 100lbs of sand.

This was always my thought too, but to each their own. The badge may also attract the "2 Fast 2 Furious" dudes looking to race you at red lights.

Totally agree. If it were a more discreet, better looking badge I would mount it. I had a full Dinan E46 M3 but was embarrassed to have the ugly badge on my car.

I had the Dinan badge on a previous BMW. As other stated I put it on the left side. I liked it.

As for police, I don't think any of them know what Dinan stands for.
