Parking sensor issues

Has anyone else had their rear parking sensors fail? Mine have now failed for the second time and I have no idea why.

How do you know that it failed? No beeping noise?

I shift to reverse and get the message, "no parking assistance. Please park unaided."

I haven't hit a thing. Message popped up without warning.

I had a bunch of issues with the PDC sensors on my F30. Had one sensor which never worked, so I had them change it. Instead, once replaced it would always be stuck full on causing the car to beep at full volume as soon as the car went in reverse.

The second time wound up taking them a week of diagnosing only to decide to replace the entire system and control module.

Wish the car was available with just the backup camera and no PDC.
