Couldn't agree more on this one. My neighbor has a 335is and it is A LOT louder especially on start up. I wish the M235 stock exhaust was this loud.

Also would like improved steering feel. Switching from the M3 to the M235 this is one of the biggest differences I notice and it takes away from the connected feeling to the car.

The last thing I would change are the run flat tires that came with my car which will soon be replaced with Michelin PSS. Can't wait!

Overall though I love the m235i. It is one of the few models currently in production by BMW that actually excites me.

At least these can be coded to behave differently. Coding can change the doors to auto unlock when parked and you turn the engine off. This removes the first pull of the door. You can also code the radio and accessories to shut off when you open the door - removing the second button push.

These two fixes alone were worth the $60 it cost me to get a coding dongle and software. Helping others by coding theirs to do the same - priceless.

This thread cracks me up. Most of you should have just waited and just got an M2 instead of your M235i.

I agree. The point of my original post was to nitpick the current design. It wasn't about adding options that turns it into a M2.

I guess I didn't make that clear.

A small gripe.... why do I have a separate remote button to lock/unlock the vehicle and a button to unlock the boot [trunk] when it should just open like the tailgate on a touring.

A +1 on the door pulls which are too far forward on a coupe, even for a long armed chap like me, a small dip in the armrest of the door would have solved this.

first world complaints... apart from that a really great car.

You can simply set Sport to Chassis Only in iDrive. It is comfort throttle with heavier steering.

You can still go to Sport+ when you want the drivetrain boost

The boot lid needs slammed to shut or you get a warning. That's a pain in the hole! Same on my brothers 218d so I assume it's common?

The arm rest needs to be spring loaded to open rather than just sitting there, I keep my sunglasses in there and it's a mission to get them while driving!

Cruise control needs to be standard on a car of this price!

Colour choice

Okdk adding 2 doors as Grand Coupe would be perfect for the M235i

I think the car is great. Although, I'm looking forward to the M2, I'm really loving the current car. My complaints are all minor things:

1 - Move interior door handles back a little bit or make an easy to grip part of the door.

2 - Spare tire. I don't like having RFTs, but would hate to have no option whatsoever.

3 - Get rid of the random tray in the middle of the back seat.

4 - Move radio controls to left side of steering wheel.

5 - Insert a sync button for a/c controls.

Oil and coolant temps.

Also- make the climate control system remember the last settings when the car was shut off.

Oh and make the seat settings automatically adjust when you unlock the car with the key fob instead of having to press '1' or '2' when you get in.

Lastly- have a button that puts the seat back when you are ready to get out of the car so you aren't confined by the steering wheel. My corvette has that.
This is my 5th BMW and all have had the 2 pull requirement.

I think it is the BMW day of protecting Americans from themselves...

Changes: a more robust suspension (current one is too soft), a brake pedal with more feel, and a less rubbery MT.

450 HP/ 450 ft/lbs. option. And full torque kicks in at 1400 RPM.

HUD option.

Blue LED's in the wheel wells option.

Squat option.

If they did anything else it would also be "stupid" if you wanted to turn the engine off but continue to listen to the radio. The real issue (if we can call this an issue) is that you don't insert the key anywhere. Accessories usually are shut off when the key is removed.
Can you not just do a long press to shut everything off? In my '11 328i, a short press leaves the radio on, a long press shuts it all off. I do find it annoying when I don't press quite long enough, but as you say getting out and locking it shuts it off anyway. I have CA so never put the key in.

A big +1 to this. These BMW coupe doors are a real b***h on a windy day parked next to others cars in the parking lot. No leverage at all! Form over function.
