2 pulls to open the door upon exit and two engine off pushes to turn shit off? Ridic. Also- make the climate control system remember the last settings when the car was shut off. Oh and make the seat settings automatically adjust when you unlock the car with the key fob instead of having to press '1' or '2' when you get in. Lastly- have a button that puts the seat back when you are ready to get out of the car so you aren't confined by the steering wheel. My corvette has that. |

The missing oil/coolant gauge ticks me off, but I can compensate for that.

I want the front parking sensors to come on automatically. Having to hit a button is stupid.
I wish the door latch mechanism worked smoother. The "pop" feels decidedly downmarket. No oil/water temp gauges? Really? I want doors that unlock when the car goes into park or ignition is turned off. Having to "Confirm" my drive is silly. More steering feedback. The ratio is also almost too quick. And the feel is far too light. I should not have to push twice to turn off the engine and accessories. Dumb.

Better yet, it should move back automatically when you turn the car off/open the door.

My wish list for M235i changes
1. Reduce the steering boost drastically: I don't have cooked spaghetti for arms
2. agree with the door handles moved back 3. redesign the door handle so the sharp seam is not cutting into your hands 4. pressing the clutch and going to a lower gear TURNS OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL!! Sorry for the shouting, but that current behaviour is dangerous 5. LSD 6. fold away iDrive screen: don't need the thing out at all times: looks tacked on. Oh wait, it is. 7. a little light to tell you the steering wheel heater is on. 8. make setting and using favourites easy: too confusing right now and they do not show up with the scroll wheels instead showing every radio station in AM, FM or Sirius regardless of your favs. Just as one of many examples where "favs" falls flat 9. Steering feel please! it is very nice and razor sharp, but zero feedback. 10. Lower the armrest: it is in the way of shifting (manual) and the parking brake 11. give us a holy sh..t handle for the passenger 12. sound output balancing please! independent of the input source. I hate it when the volume of songs from my phone are 2x the volume of songs from the radio. Other than those (and some are definitely nitpicking, but sadly others are not), the car is incredible and I love it. I had an e46 M3 and this car is so very much like it.

So will throw in my biggest beefs:
1 - Sound system. Base is a joke, HK is a rip off (compared to the rest of BMWs). This is a horrific cheapening of the vehicle that is unacceptable. 2 - Missing temp gauge, plenty of room there, why not have it? I don't need a constant 'M235' reminder and with a 320 hp engine, I don't care about my 'eco' capability telling me I don't drive a Prius, ffs. 3 - CF/Alcantara not standard. Honestly, the whole package should be a stock option for maybe $500 max. 4 - LSD standard. Ordered one for mine, but if you are going to add an //M, could at least add the LSD. The plastic is a bit cheaper in feeling, but luckily I only have to grasp the gorgeous M steering wheel. Which brings me to my last niggle. 5 - M steering wheel with black stitching. Is the blue & red stitching that much more expensive? Since the M235 is the only M w/o the blue and red, one could argue that the black on black version probably costs BMW more to produce two variations than just using the same one in the 3, 4, and 2er. Otherwise, loving this car.

I turned off the auto lock feature. Don't feel anyone is going to try and get in my car on the highway and live in a next to zero crime neighborhood. Then when you open door you don't deal with double pull nonsense.
I would like oil temp gauge. Would like factory installed m performance rear splitter as standard. Would like if door arm rest had at least some padding, makes my arm go numb if rest too long. Better stereo. iPhone CarPlay Dual temp setting instead of max AC that I never use. Wider rear end, this will be addressed with M2, but as long as we are asking. Maybe panoramic sunroof, like the open feel it creates, I'm sure worse for rigidity and weight. Wish it weighed 300-500 lighter. Not realistic these days for this price level and safety requirements Other than that a pretty perfect car.

You don't have to push the button twice to turn off the engine and accessories. Just push the button once and leave the car and lock it, as you normally do.
If they did anything else it would also be "stupid" if you wanted to turn the engine off but continue to listen to the radio. The real issue (if we can call this an issue) is that you don't insert the key anywhere. Accessories usually are shut off when the key is removed. Also, having to open the door twice when it's locked is standard BMW behavior. It's better than having to first try to open the door, then, upon discovering that it's locked, reach for a door lock or an unlock button, then try to open the door again. Ignoring the fact that the door is locked and just opening it in one step even if it's locked is not a solution IMO. If this is too much, program the car in iDrive not to lock the doors when you start driving.

- Better steering feel
- Better door handle location for better leverage - Even better iDrive UI (I know it's been improved, but can still be made better)

Agree with a lot of the above - 19" wheels, LSD, temp gauges, no ASD but more aggressive exhaust etc etc
Seat belt holder/retainer near headrest would be nice. Reaching back to B pillar can be tedious. Personally, if I have the chance again, I would chose the manual rather than auto. |

None of these are deal killers, but for this kind of coin, and knowing full well the technology is available even on substantially cheaper cars, it's a bit frustrating to me. In fact, I just drove a $25k VW Jetta the other day that did all this. But most is forgiven when I get in and drive.

1. more feedback from steering
2. flared fenders 3. louder exhaust / less noise dampening <- this one reaaaally kills me. I KNOW it sounds sweet, but it's teasin me with that polite room conversation noise level

I'm surprised how quickly I've been assimilated into the BMW collective. I've been giving our other cars 2 pulls to unlock the door and sit in my RX-8 before I realize I have to dig out the key to start the car.

I'm still in awe every time I drive our M235i. It already is the full package for me. However, as I have done, adding options (that brought the final delivery price up) would be icing on the cake. As an example, I would have optioned for additional body work such as flared wheel arches to allow for a more aggressive rear tire fitment. I know these are on the M235i race-version already.

I thought every car with a stick and cruise control does this? Otherwise when you press the clutch pedal and the engine is no longer accelerating the car, wouldn't the cruise control make the engine redline while it attempts to hold the selected speed? Perhaps I'm missing something?
