IMO the adaptive dampers and brakes are worth it even in daily usage, but everything comes at a cost.
Solid summation, thanks. Being in SoFla with the temps we get, plus the upgraded brakes it seems worth it.

Sent you a message, Grayhair. No need for the VIN: just what it produces info-wise.

Vin decoded

My car has the "Hot-climate" version as well as all standard M235 items, nothing deleted. It has all options with the exception of the radio upgrade. As I stated earlier it has the summer tires with the pump and goop in the trunk. Oh, decoder also shows a USA car.

My 235i convertible has 2 rads?

New to the forum, was looking to buy a 2-3 year old 135i and bought a new 2015 M235i convertible instead. I bought it last Friday from dealer stock. Great car, silver and red and I just checked...and it has a 2nd rad on the passenger side. checked the vin build data and it says 823 HOT CLIMATE VERSION.

The passenger side radiator is an oil cooler. The driver side is the supplemental, PPK water radiator. I can't make out whether you have the extra water rad...

Ahhh...got it. None on the drivers side...so I have 1 water rad and 1 oil rad.
Thanks for clearing that up. This car is a little rocket ship and just love the sound.

Both auxiliary radiators are for coolant; neither are for oil. This has been verified in the F30 tech guide for the N20. Check the routing of the hoses from it, as well as the type. The construction of the radiator itself is a giveaway: the structure looks like corrugated cardboard. Oil coolers look like a thick piece of wood laminate (but made of aluminum).

The N20 already has two oil coolers; one in the driver's side nose between the edge of the main radiator and the overflow tank, and a smaller one near the thermostat on the very top of the engine.

We're talking about the N55, and oil coolers actually take many forms.

On my M235i the passenger side rad is an oil cooler; I've traced the lines. Oil runs from the filter housing, through a small water to oil heat exchanger, out out to the passenger radiator, and back to the filter.

Looks like this:

Yours is typical, Pyewacket. Grayhair never sent me VIN info, so I can't investigate his claim of a M235i with a single aux radiator. All NA 2-series have the Hot Climate Version build; only a few select cars have been outfitted with a "Cold Climate Version" in addition (I've only seen VIN info for two of these).

I did some additional studying/digging on RealOEM.com, and rwalker appears to be correct: On the N55 M235i, the passenger-side aux radiator is for oil, and the driver's side is for coolant.
However, I've found no evidence in the N20 blow-ups that an aux radiator for oil is part of any build. In fact, the Radiator section for the N20 specifically shows an 'Auxiliary Radiator - Wheel Housing' diagram -- and within the diagram, an "Additional Radiator" is mentioned as part of the line with the part number (see this page).

This leads me to believe this:
1) On the 228i M Sport, any aux radiator seen is for coolant.
2a) On an M235i with both aux radiators, the passenger-side radiator is for oil, and the driver's side is for coolant.
2b) On an M235i with only the passenger-side aux radiator, it is for oil.

I'd like to personally inspect a 228i with both aux radiators... anybody with pics of these, including tracing in the engine bay?

I am confused now. Are there U.S. spec M235 with only one aux radiator?

Yes: all M235i convertibles, regardless of market, have only one aux radiator.

Ok, my miss. You referred to the vert, I mean the Coupe. I did not send you my VIN as I won't pick up the actual until this weekend. It is a 235 coupe.

I actually didn't refer to the 'vert specifically; just M235is with or without the second aux radiator. The M235i delineation is made higher up in the string. It's easy:
- All NA-spec M235i Coupes and xDrives have both aux radiators (one coolant, one oil)
- All M235i convertibles regardless of location have one aux radiator (probably oil)

And it did not disappear in a rumored de-content. I just picked up my 4/7 build M235xi, it has the aux radiators on both sides, as well as, sadly, the ASD unit.

So after all of this investigation, I have a question:

If the left and right radiators on my M235i are for additional engine coolant, why are they different? The vertical cooling tubes are much wider spaced on the right radiator than on the left radiator.

If they are both for engine coolant, then I would think that both radiators would be identical.
