Is this normal? Competition wheels on 2018 M2
I got my 2018 f87 m2 about 9 months ago. It came with all the upgrades including black shadow etc. I did more research and saw that no versions of the 2018 M2s had the comp rims like mine, nor have I actually seen another base M2 with them. Can anyone explain this? Was it an option when ordering the car brand new?

It was not an option. I would guess that the previous owner got curb rash and replaced the wheels with used comp wheels. They ar heavier and not as nice as the stock wheels were.

Many prefer the 788M comp wheels over the 437M wheels that are original equipment. The prior owner simply changed wheels. Curb rash is pure speculation. I ran 788M on my 2017 brielfy. Still wish I had them.

BMW and Michelin marketing on the topic. Good read nonetheless.

It’s not just the rims that were changed, it looks like the brake calipers have been modified as well. The stock calipers were painted blue. If I’m seeing the photo correctly, yours look reddish.

I use the 788M for winter, I don't hate them but like the 763s more...

I wish my Comp came with 437M's. I'm currently using my stock 788M's as winter wheels, and I'd like to trade them for a set of 437's.

Too many spokes to keep clean on the 788Ms. Complete deal breaker for me.
Team 763Ms here, my 437Ms remain in storage

Yes they are lighter, both are forged but the 437M have a much more respectable weight but to me they don't look good. The issue with the 788s is that they came in bicolor, they should have stuck with just 1 color in the whole wheel and they look pretty great. But even as stock I actually like how they look, they make the car look more expensive than it actually is. This imo of course I know most like the 437 but saying no one prefers the comp wheels is just wrong because I know I am not alone. But yeah cleaning the 788 is a different story, thats why I powder coated mine bronze, always look clean now but also like @threestripes said, saying PO curbed wheels is pure speculation lol, he prob just liked the comp wheels better, same reason why calipers are different color and spoiler is different, just cusomizing to liking Last edited by MooMooM2; 03-15-2024 at 09:19 AM.. |
